    Wanting To Show & Tell

I used to live near Middletown, NY. I wheeled in the Catskills and N.E. Pa. Moved to the Pacific NW and enjoy it almost daily. Some mornings, I go up top with my thermos for "first light". I find an awesome view, light my pipe, sit back and smile. The snow pack is deep and I do enjoy a mountain...

    lift help!

Here's a little help from an ex- New Yorker from Auburn. Start reading posts regarding lifts on real jeep sites. I have an awesome jeep. I have a 4.5 Rubicon Express lift with a Rubicon Express 1 inch body lift. Fools go over 1 inch because of the shear factor. Hit something in an accident and...

    Another PNW jeeper saying Hi.

Looking for offroaders? There was a party last night at Jackson's Pass by the quarry as there is every Friday and Saturday night. We wheeled till 0200. You can find a few hanging down at Lower River Rd every night. Two nights ago, we were on Spud Mtn in clay pits. The oldest jeep club in...

    how was your 4th?

Sorry to hear about the Sammy. I had a great 4th for a change. It is my birthday so a good friend asked me if I wanted to go wheeling in SW Wa. Found myself in the Cascades. About 0100, I was stuck on Spud Mtn, looking for a way thro the trees. Sat back and smiled....it was awesome to be in my...

    Spend or save??

I cut down on spending a bit. I'm real choosey what I buy, so half my list is put on hold. Spending less on gas to have more mods. Now-a-days I'm selling jeep parts on Craigs List to make some cash so I can buy more!!! LOL Been thinking about when the jeep will be finished. Came to the...

    lift kits for rubicon

Just two comments.... First, a long arm kit is fine but you must remember that when you attempt a very steep slope, you have more of a danger of flipping the jeep if you back down. Second, 15 inch rims are the norm for off-roading as it gives you more sidewall and that is something we are after...

what state has the most jeeps?

I was hoping to see some answers as to who has the most jeeps. I will say that Vancouver, Wa has many jeeps. You can almost see one on every block. When I drive, you will see multiple Wranglers at the intersection. Off roading here is almost every man's hobby. Mt Helen's is an hour away, awesome...

    Need help buying first Jeep

I run a Jeep club in the Pacific NW. To me, it doesn't matter what jeep you buy. I prefer Wrangler type jeeps. Listen, all jeeps can do the job. All jeeps will most likely be modified or worked on. Jeeps owners pour money into their jeeps. I started with a bare jeep and added $40K in to it...

    Ice...how to?

Yeah Upstate NY gets alot of ice and snow, I lived there 40 years ago. I now live in the Cascade Mountains of Washington and run a Jeep club for many years. On my TJ, I use Blizzek tires. Awesome tires for ice, even in the mountains. I keep an extra set on rims for when I need them. You don't...

    Best Mechanics tool set

OK....the best mechanics tool set is the one that gets the job done right and easily. I am sixty years old and was first a professional mechanic before I was a Jeeper. Sure Snap-On has better quality when it comes to metal content and fabrication...so does other tool companies like Matco and MAC...

need help deciding on a lift kit

A Johnny Joint is a universal. Some lift kits have control arms with them instead of bushings. They are inter- changeable with Rubicon Express short arm lifts as I have.

need help deciding on a lift kit

Here's some advice from an old guy that was a mechanic also. I installed a R.E. 7000 which is 4.5 inches and a R.E, one inch body lift. Added to that some 35 MTR's and lwered my wheels to 15 inch for the extra sidewall benefits. BTW, I own a '04 Rubicon. Went to 12.5's for balence. As you go...

    Junk yard alternator upgrade?

If your lights are flickering, I'd find out why. Is it the alternator or the wires? To see if the alternator is bad, put a volt meter on the output terminal of the alternator and check voltage. If it's off, it's the internal regulator. If there's no juice coming out, buy brushes and install them...
