I would go with any Edlebrock with electric choke. They are reasonably priced, easily maintained, can be adjusted on the trail with just a screwdriver, and you can get rid of a-lot of vacuum lines if you have them.

Anyone know how far your tires can stick out beyond the fenders in NY and CT?:???:

I am the proud owner of a '89 yj 4.2l (aka money-pit) and I can not get the defrost to stop blowing completely even with the control lever in the off position. Anyone know the secret password to make it stop?:?|

This is just my opinion but I think that you should take it completely off and use it as a paper weight, and order an Edlebrock ASAP! Again these are just the opinions of a shade tree mechanic but there are way to many parts and pieces on the stock carb that can have problems.

How long did it take? And if you don't mind me asking how much $?

What would be the advantage of going to a 4.0L? I am realatively new to the Jeep ownership club and have heard that '89 4.2L has somewhat of a bad reputation. What I am looking to do is build a dependable daily driver that has no problem hanging with the best in Moab.

I am looking for a rebuilt 4.2L for my '89 Wrangler. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? I am in Connecticut near the New York border about 30 miles outside of NYC.

mud4feet, Thanks for the tip. The gauge immediately pegs when I start the Jeep, and has since I bought it a few weeks ago. I will replace that next. Do you think by replacing the other gaskets and stopping the leaks it could cause the oil pressure sending unit to go bad?

Thnks for the help everyone! I replace the valve cover gaskett, oil pan gaskett, and the rear main. That stopped pretty much all of the leaks except one little one that I haven't been able to trace yet. I'll get the little ba@#$%*d though!
