    Weber carb Hoses

1050165 I also have an 89 with the 258 and plan on converting over to the weber in the near future. Currently, one of my air tubes (the one to the cat) had a rusted hole and a rusted check valve. Instead of replacing it I just capped off both vacuum lines leading out from the solenoids to...

an update on the 87 yj

1050507 I have an 89 4.2 and I replaced the cat AND disconnected the pulse air system (tubes to the cat and down pipe) with no ill effects. My tubes were rusted and 1 check valve broke in two. After installing the new cat and Flowmaster I removed the tube to the cat, disconnected and capped...

    about timing adjustments?

1051426 I completed your upgrade about a month ago and did NOT touch the timing (mainly because at the time I didn't have a timing light). To this date I haven't had any problems and am getting 16 MPG. Let me know if I should advance or retard my timing. [addsig]

    NOn Jeep Tech Question?

1051428 I've had a couple of 2wd Rangers and all the rear needs is blocks for lifting because it is a spring over axle. The front is a twin I beam and there are three ways to raise: small lift - new springs med lift - spindles big lift - new I beams Good Luck [addsig]

    gas milage

1052010 My 89 with the 4.2 gets 16mpg. The only "performance" upgrades so far is the ignition upgrade, fresh set of Champion plugs, new cat and a Flowmaster.[addsig]

Sway bar endlinks - can't remove!!

1052235 Even if I could, I don't have one. The ends that are really the problem are the top ones connected to sway bar itself. I'm thinking of some sort of vice grips-pushing it through-lots of four letter words-effort. Unless someone who has done this can share their experience.[addsig]

Sway bar endlinks - can't remove!!

1052238 After further review and an inventory of my toolbox, I went to Discount Autoparts an bought a gear puller. I hope that it works. [addsig]

Sway bar endlinks - can't remove!!

1052248 Puller No-workie, hammer no workie, patience no more. It looked like I also had to remove the Pitman arm to completely remove the sway bar - it blocked my route to slide it through ao I could work on those links without me being under the vehicle. So I didn't have to completely...

    Leaky Transfer case

1052879 Quadratec has the rear housing with the mainshaft rear bushing and the rear output seal for 60.00. Hopefully I won't find anymore problems. How much ATF does a T-case hold - my Haynes manual didn't say. Thanks for the input. :-) [addsig]

    Leaky 231 x-fer case

1053933 :-) It does help, thanks. I guess to avoid having to purchase the bushing removal tool, i could just purchase the rear extension housing that comes with the bushing already included. That way I won't have to worry about removing the old one. One other thing, is it a messy job? Will I...

TFI Install - Another Long-Winded install story

1053935 :-D :-D I completed the same upgrade on my 4.2 and also noticed that it was much smoother overall. However, I did NOT adjust the timing for the same reasons you identified (mainly I didn't have a timing light). Anyway, it runs great so I would hate to go against the "if it ain't broke...
