    Fuel Gauge issue

Maybe cut and splice the wires before they reach the connector ?? That plug on the XJ I used to have was toast and I couldn't find a replacement. I ended up making my own - not really weatherproof but I taped it up. Worked fine for the few more yrs I owned that jeep.

    got another tj

I'm sure you know this but be sure to pay attention to the gas when you drain it. There is a good chance that tank will need to be cleaned out.

I got ducked for the very first time

I've only been driving jeeps for about 25 yrs or so. If I understand correctly the duck thing started during covid ......... and the girl that started it has since passed away. I've been ducked three times.

    Happy New Year 2[emoji[emoji6[emoji640]2][emoji640][emoji6[emoji640]2]]2[emoji6[emoji640]1]

My jeep is my daily driver except I no longer drive daily. My wife's car goes almost twice as far on a gallon of gas but is a LOT harder for me to get in/out of. It's supposed to start snowing later this morning so I'll need my jeep to go up/down my mountain driveway. 1-3" today and then...

That is neat, never seen/heard of that before.

Horn is blowing all the time

Not a fix but rather a work around. I've had old vehicles in the past where the horn wouldn't blow via the steering wheel so I'd disconnect the wire going to the wheel and then run it to an add on button mounted to the steering column or dash. Something like this -...

    Decoding Firewall Plate

What are you needing to paint? If you are wanting to repaint the entire jeep either blue should be ok. Repainting a section may or may not work as paints can fade over time. If you can get an aerosol can of each color and paint a piece of metal that should help you determine which is the right...

    XJ Heater hoses

A little hard for me to tell from the pics but what I did with my 1990 XJ was keep the hard pipe and use regular heater hose for the short flexible parts.

Should I reman my AW4 transmission?

While trying to rebuild the tranny yourself could be a neat learning experience, most [including me] would be leery of buying a transmission rebuilt by a novice. Have you checked on rebuilt tranny prices? They typically have a warranty. Sometimes used will come with a 30 day warranty.

    Frame repair

How extensive is the rust? There are shops that do that type of work, you'll just need to check around your area.

    soft tops in the snow

It blows my mind that they'd put the jeep emblem on any 2wd vehicle. 4 wheel drive made jeep's name. If there are folks out there that like the body style why not put the dodge label on the 2wd models. Seems like most of the jeep pickups they used to make were 2wd. I don't do a lot of off...

    soft tops in the snow

My wife wanted a soft top when we bought our jeep. I didn't but the only 2 door hard top they had on the lot was a manual - ok by me but not her. Once she found out the hassle of putting the top on we've not taken it off. When it gets a few inches of wet snow on it I sweep it off the top...

Best way to start on rusted exhaust nuts (wrench vs impact) without destroying it?

I've sprayed PB Blaster on red hot bolts before but prepared to put the flame out if needed. Generally the flame isn't that big of a deal to put out. I'm not convinced that spraying the PB Blaster on red hot bolts/nuts helps a lot. IMO heat does more than anything.

Best way to start on rusted exhaust nuts (wrench vs impact) without destroying it?

About 50 yrs ago I rented a small set of torches from a rental place. I don't know if that can still be done or what the cost might be.

Best way to start on rusted exhaust nuts (wrench vs impact) without destroying it?

While map is better than propane I'm thinking you need a real torch. How red did your map torch get the stud?

Best way to start on rusted exhaust nuts (wrench vs impact) without destroying it?

I've always found this to work well but you need to keep it in short bursts if you are concerned about breaking the bolts.

Best way to start on rusted exhaust nuts (wrench vs impact) without destroying it?

Are these the bolts for the catalytic convertor? If so, how old is the car?
