    2001 TJ ignition

Has anyone had to replace ignition switch actuator rod? DC wants to replace the whole column for $1200. I say BS to that. I've found a few books, but you have to pay for them and I want to make sure it can be done before I waste the $$$.

    Rubicon '11

Yeah....we camped on top of the Sluice Box the first night and stayed at Buck for the rest of the weekend. We should totally get a group of people together to do this trip! The group I went with was the NorCal Broncos club and we had about 15 Broncos total. Having done it twice now, I...

    Rubicon '11

I did it last year for the first time and drove home with no problems. This year, I twisted my front axle shaft into two pieces, broke my swaybar discos, separated one tire from the rim and broke both the bolts holding my upper control arms. ......and I thought I was being pretty careful...

    4.0l with a stuck lifter.....

It's just the gears and the carrier.....$50? They're out of my TJ and I'm not sure if they'll work on your rig, but if you're smarter than I, you'll probably know better.

    Trailer or Roof Rack

I've got an 8' Chevy bed box trailer that I've pulled with all my camping gear and a Yamaha quad (not sure of weight) and never had any problems. Check out a spare tire carrier/cargo rack. I've also got a receiver rack that can hold all my camping gear for 3 people. Those are relatively...

    Newbie to JEEPZ!

Wouldn't even know where to start on that.........get it up on jack-stands and start looking. If you can get it into neutral, put it on a trailer and take it to a shop. If it's a cable or something it may still be under warranty.

    4.0l with a stuck lifter.....

Thanks! What gears do you need? I've have a set of 4:11's from a D44 & D30. The 44's are missing a tooth, but I was driving them when I took it apart no probs!

    4.0l with a stuck lifter.....

UPDATE: Jeep sat overnight and when I started it this morning there was nothing but the sweet sound of exhaust (all coming out of the tailpipe). I guess it was a sticky lifter. Do I need to be concerned for future repairs (ie engine rebuild) ?

    4.0l with a stuck lifter.....

Has anyone ever had this problem? At first I thought the knocking noise was a blown exhaust gasket. However, I replaced that and it was still making the noise. I did a search for it and found a few Youtube videos with very similar sounds and the majority of the replies were saying it was a...

    Hummer Hunting

I too don't understand this thread.....I mean if they were Hummers getting owned on the trail then I could get behind it, but I don't see the big deal in taking a picture of a stock H123 on the road.

For sure! I did it last year for the first time, and now I think it's my favorite trail.....if I only do one trip a year, this would be it.

    AMC 20 IS in TJ

I hate it when people ask questions even though they really already know what they plan to do and have no intent on listening to anyone's advice. I've got a TJ with 6" lift, 35" tires and it feels way too tippy for me on some trails. I couldn't imagine doing anything with 37"'s. I ran the...

    Best TJ tire carrier?

LoD Off-Road. Bumper/tire carrier combo. Once you have room in the garage you can get the rack too. I like mine because when I'm not wheeling, I just take the tire and carrier piece off. My theory is that it's better for fuel mileage, but I haven't tested it yet.

    Hard Top 97 on a 04?

I think there are small differences in the mounting locations, but I would look at a '97-'02 just to make sure. I'd imagine it's not enough difference that couldn't be made to work.

    Sway bar disconnects = bad???

Yeah, I would imagine the biggest problems with running disco'd is that the sway bar is the limiting factor for the drop in the rear. Without that, you could very easily drop your springs on the ground every time you get a lot of flex. When I did the Rubicon this summer, there was a guy in a...

    make it more interesting? rims

I love those rims! I'd do them black or olive drab. Though, I've got plain black steel rims and I've always wanted to put some cheap PepBoys spinner wheel covers on them. :) FYI - don't listen to any of my advice as I am on m y 3rd (soon to be 4th) glass of wine tonight. :)

    Chevy Camaro/Corvette Rally Wheels (15"x7")

I know they're not typical 4x4 items, but I thought some of you may be interested, or maybe know someone that might like them. Personally, I think they'd look good on anything, and if my Jeep had the same bolt pattern I would've already used them. Chevy Rally Wheels
