Bleeding these '02 Taurus ABS brakes

After replacing both front flexible brake lines and tightening everything back up I go to start flushing all 4 lines as the fluid is due to be flushed and there are tiny bubbles galore vacuum bleeding at all four brakes. Because I changed out the front lines I bleed those first just to get...

Bleeding these '02 Taurus ABS brakes

Just changing out both front flexible brakes lines that go to the calipers on my Mum's '02 Taurus (99k miles) and although I've bled my '96 Cherokee's brakes lines before I haven't done an ABS system and I've been told I need to activate the solenoids in the ABS module while bleeding in...

    Exhaust pipe rattle fix

So I got a new muffler put on at the local discount Mexicano auto shop (learned my lesson) and they rearranged my exhaust so the pipe forward of the muffler sits about 1/2 inch above the transmission support member and now rattles like a mother. Instead of getting the exhaust redone I'm...

3 questions...realignment, rear wiper parts and modified headlight harness

'96 XJ here and she's due for some maintenance 1) My steering has been misaligned for a while now pulling fairly hard to the right. What part of my steering is causing this and how to adjust? I won't get this perfect but any improvement would be great 2) How do I find just the headlight...

Holy cow..main crank shaft pully loose on my 4.0 engine

Need advice replacing harmonic balancer and front main seal Looks like it's called the harmonic balancer. I've seen where the inner and outer wheel can become disconnected causing my problem so at my mileage I'm gonna go ahead and replace the thing. Just found some videos that make it look...

Holy cow..main crank shaft pully loose on my 4.0 engine

The 4.0 inline 6 engine in my '96 Cherokee has 188 k miles on it and (I thought) the serpentine belt or something close by has been squeaking badly for a month now. Tried all kinds of idler pulley tension adjustments and the squeaking continued. I go to start it today and the serp belt jumps...

Holy cow..main crank shaft pully loose on my 4.0 engine

Loose harmonic balancer Have a '96 XJ where the harmonic balancer just got off kilter enough that it blew the serp belt off track. I thought it was my serp belt that's been making noise all this time but I guess it's been the balancer. It's come loose and migrated forward some so that the...

No start on The Old 96er

Turns out I've got a problem starter. Cleaned both batt terminals and engine ground and got nothing. Tapped the starter a few times and it fired right up. So what kind of starter should I look for? Want something decent with a warranty but not too expensive. Do most people just go for...

No start on The Old 96er

Ok good didn't know these car shops could test starters. If I get to the point where I take it off I'll get it to Advanced as I really don't trust the oreileys or zone stores around here. The batt read 12.68 V at the terminals about 5 mins after I turned it off during my errand where it...

No start on The Old 96er

Thanks for the very specific numbers. Along with your suggestions I'll check batt ground to engine, and then all connections between batt and starter. After that I'll test the starter by bridging directly from pos batt terminal to starter and see if I can get it to turn.

No start on The Old 96er

'96 Cherokee here and right now I'm dealing with a no start after a few weeks of suspicious symptoms. She's been driven a lot less over the past year and about a month ago she began starting a little slow. I've got an oversized battery in there so usually she cranks right up no problem. I...

    Vehicle security

Unfortunately it looks like I have some people in my new neighborhood paying a little too much attention to my 96 XJ and for the first time I'm feeling a need to add some security system(s) to old yeller. She's stock and still looks great so it's no wonder someone hasn't tried something before...

    Heater duct door switching problem

I checked all the vac lines on the firewall from the vac source on the driver's side to where it goes into the cabin on the pass side and everything seemed ok. So I get inside and take the glove compartment out and go poking around to see if I can find a loose vac line. Well lo and behold...

    Heater duct door switching problem

Thanks JPN. Found a video on youtube that describes the problem and fix fairly well. More than likely it's a vac line at the firewall.

    Heater duct door switching problem

Have an '02 Taurus w/ 103k miles and about 6 months ago all the air, heat or a/c, started blowing only out of the defrost vents at the bottom of the windshield. All the settings work correctly except air has stopped blowing from the floor and dash vents entirely. I know the fix on this is...

Trying to replace this screw / fastener clip

Found out these things are called clip nuts. Couple different kinds but mine is the turret kind where there are a number of threads that secure the screw. Found lots of them by Doorman at Oreilleys. Only question now is...the other clip anchors with their screws still in place take a 8mm...

Trying to replace this screw / fastener clip

96 XJ. One of my top 2 e-fan support screws is missing from where it mounts on that top cross support. There's a small black C shaped piece of metal that's stamped to accept the screw. C piece goes onto the edge of the cross support and then the screw goes through the hole. Anyone know how I...
