    cranks but doesn't start

So far I've been able to run a couple tests.. Hooked up a fuel pressure gauge and first key turn got it up to only 20psi. Second turn got it up to 45. And third and subsequent turns got it up to 48. It only fell to 43 after 2 minutes so I think that means the fuel pressure is good...

    cranks but doesn't start

So I got this '96 Jeep Cherokee XJ that cranks but doesn't start. It's got around 180k on her but I keep everything in good shape. Batt seemed strong. I used to drive it everyday but this past year I've driven it only about twice a week. It's been just slightly slower to start in the last...

    Tracking / steering issues

Ok since I'm in deep already I might as well do the sway bar bushings too. But do they really effect handling that much? I haven't looked for it yet but that wikipedia article you quoted says the base CV doesn't have a rear antiroll bar, so hopefully I'll only have to replace the front.

    Tracking / steering issues

Thanks for that camera idea Terry. I'm surprised I hadn't thought of that myself. I had a buddy turn the wheel when I was underneath and the only thing I can confirm is that the outer tie rod ends seem to be ok. But considering the mileage I've decided to change out everything I can...

    Tracking / steering issues

Do I have a stamped steel or forged top A-arm? I believe it's stamped but I'm not entirely sure.

    Tracking / steering issues

Thanks for answering all my questions. That's the setup I have, in the picture, so I've figured out recently that I'm ok with the spring issue. And I figured out the top bj has to press out because they're offered on rock auto. Loving those cheesy smiles at the end of the vid btw

    Tracking / steering issues

Well I've decided I'm gonna give it a shot at doing this myself. 'Couple' questions... - I know the lower BJ presses out, but does the top one press out as well? - Does the sway bar link have to come off for better access? - Anything else I should change out while I'm in there? So far I'm...

    Tracking / steering issues

Thanks for the good advice JPN and glad you got to pee Gennybro. I just got the car back from a front end inspection and they're saying my biggest problem is that both lower ball joints need to be replaced. I've done work similar to this before (using a pickle fork to separate joints and using...

    Tracking / steering issues

My '11 Crown Vic has got 315k miles on it and I'm having some kind of tracking problem that I think is coming from the steering. If there's not much wind it drives straight down the road just fine up to about 60 mph. But if the winds up some, or if I take it up to 70, it's tracking...

    Melted electrical connection...what to do?

So I put a headlight wiring kit from LMC Truck on my '96 Cherokee that circumvents the normal wiring and runs the headlights directly off the battery by way of a relay. The kit runs the lights at 55/100 (low, hi) watts instead of the original 55/60. One reason I did this was because the light...

    Cataclean?

Ok thanks JPN I'll follow your advice. One of the reasons I've also been told this code could be setting is that the engine is burning oil, which it does...about a quart every 1000 miles or so. Wonder how to fix that?

    tire dressing

I've heard good things about something called 303 Aerospace. Anyone know what this stuff is or how it's used in auto care?

    Cataclean?

Thanks for the help and sorry it took so long to get back. The light went off but finally came back on again yesterday so I got it reread again...all 4 codes are the same...P0430. Vehicle has 305k miles and I'm not sure how long the cats been on it. I just got it a year ago at 280k. I go...

    tire dressing

What's a good long lasting tire dressing? I used to use this stuff called Wipe New - Tires but it's since been discontinued. There was a process. First you soaped and scrub cleaned the tire, then let dry. Then you don a 3M chemical filter cartridge mask, because no joke this stuff was...

    Cataclean?

2011 Crown Vic here with 305k miles, and today my engine light comes on. Scan at the local Advanced comes up with 4 codes on the cat converter. Guy says I need to get something called Cataclean and run it through the gas tank to correct the problem. Is it worth doing this...will it make...

How to disable my airbag *gasp*

So my Mom drives a 2002 Ford Taurus that I believe has one of the Takata airbags that have been killing people. So far her car hasn't been recalled for the airbag, but I know this recall is being done piece meal as they can't do them all at once, and since the recall applies to the year...

    timing belts and engine wear

I bought a 2011 Crown Vic with 300k miles 12 mos ago and I'm wondering how to approach servicing the timing belt. I know very little of it's past maintenance records other than what I've done with it this past year. Basically I'm wondering if I should go ahead and attempt to replace it now...

    300k mile old diff fluid

Thanks for the good info yall. A few follow up questions... I trust ya JPN but why no cleaner? I've had others advise to spray it all out, I really don't know one way or the other. Also got advice that I might have a limited slip diff but the clutches are worn out. I suppose I could write...

    300k mile old diff fluid

I have a '11 Crown Vic with 300k miles on it and my rear diff fluid looks like this... Been watching some utube vids on how to change this fluid out but after a visit to the local Advance store I've got some questions. Up til now, forums on the net have led me to believe that all former...

    Problem w/ intermittent defrost a/c

Thanks for the video, good stuff. After I took the gauges off I noticed one of the schrader valves was hissing, and now the system is down to 0 psi. So I believe a faulty valve has been the culprit all along. Now that the system is down I'm going to replace both valves, but my regular...
