    Bestop Trail Cover

Mine would sag when water accumulated, but didn't leak. I placed a piece of scrap plywood on top of the cage to keep it from sagging. No big deal.

    Bestop Trail Cover

They are kind of pricey for just a temporary thing, but if you were planning on using it alot then they are great. I used to have one for my CJ. The only thing that I didn't like was that it had some fuzzy lining inside that would catch leaves and such when you were trying to fold it. Mine...

Axle and tire upgrade (on my beer cooler)

Truly awesome. I will be doing the same before my next beach trip. As a dad, I seem to be the pack mule for lugging junk down to the beach.

    Non-jeep question..

If it's the original battery, then odds are it's dead. Most GM's had a battery with the little green eye that tells you if it's good or black if the battery is dead. Our original Avalanche battery went out like that. Started fine one time, was dead the next.

    My wife's appendix almost exploded!

Hospitals will nearly let you die these days. Some friends of mine were out Jeep riding. When they stopped, my buddy got out to grab something out of one of the Jeeps and another unoccupied Jeep rolled down a small hill and hit him from behind. The two bumpers tore large chunks out of the...

Texas Boy, 7, Fatally Mauled By 2 Pit Bulls

A good friend of the family (who is in her 50's) was recently attacked by a Rottweiler. They were pulling up to some friend's house and as she got out of the car and walked to the house, the dog got out of the fence and attacked her. The owners wife was shocked and basically paralyzed with fear...

    Rollcage Construction

Huh? That doesn't make sense. He would have to have the most top heavy cage in the history of mankind to completely flex out the suspension and lift a tire in a turn. Besides, that would have nothing to do with the cage tie-ins to the frame being direct or bushed.

    Rollcage Construction

Don't skimp where the kids are concerned. I just installed a PRP preemy seat in mine with 5 point harness for my 2 year old. He's already been on 3 mild trail rides. I am also going to put a bicycle helmet on him when it's time to hit some more exciting trails. His head isn't big enough to...

If you are going to Michigan, the first thing I would do is undercoat the heck out of it.

Need help finding a transfer case

Check your local off road shops and salvage yards. You can also call Palmer Brothers in Birmingham, AL. It's a Chrysler Jeep salvage yard.

    Rollcage Construction

The goal obviously is to add support in the case of either side rolls or front and rear rolls. Several things you may want to look at: 1. Add a horizontal dash bar on that ORfab setup. It could be smaller diameter to maintain visibilty. 2. Use a smaller diameter bar at a 45 between your A...

    Rollcage Construction

I'm glad you posted this. We haven't had a good roll cage thread in a while. What kind of bolt in kit do you have? If you are talking about the TJ in the picture, then you are pretty limited with what you can do around the dash without cutting into it. I suppose you have already discovered...

    Winch Capability: 2000lb winch + Jeep Yj = ?

So you are saying that 9.8 meters per second square is how fast it accelerates until it hits its max speed or terminal velocity. ...wondering at this point why I even care.

    Howdy There From Tug!

You should check in more often. Every now and then we get a good gun thread going that almost warrants branching off into gunz.com BTW...what's with the price of ammo? I'm going to have to deer hunt with throwing stars next season.

Hee Hee. I believe he was involved in an experiment to see if the gravitational pull toward the couch was intensified as alcohol was added to the equation. While the theory was proven, the test subject did not anticipate that the volume of alcohol required would incapacitate him for X amount...

    Several (related) Steering Problems

I have never seen a u-joint seize. Usually the needle bearings end up falling out, leaving play in the joint. The only time I experienced a wheel bearing failure, it felt more like the brake was stuck on one side. Then it started crunching and popping and was a dead giveaway. Either way, if...

    88 Cherokee

I don't know much about the 88 model with an auto, but Jeep had a lot of vacuum controlled items back in the day. Look to see if there is a vacuum hose coming out of the side of the transmission. If so, trace it back up to the engine checking for leaks. The kickdown is either vacuum...

    Winch Capability: 2000lb winch + Jeep Yj = ?

Watch out, he's pulling out the physics on ya... I remember gravity being 9.8 meters per second square from high school physics. Thinking back on it, I'm really not sure exactly what that means. How do you square a second?

Startiing a new club on Campus

Think about hitting up the local dealerships for a used vehicle that was traded in. Most trade-ins go to auction anyway. If they can take a tax writeoff, then it may benefit them to donate one.
