    newbie ?s

I think the grand uses the vacuum acctuated 4wd, (my YJ and XJ both do) I would make sure all the vacuum lines are in good condition for starters. Then check to make sure your vacuum cannister is holding. Or you could get a mechanical replacement kit for about $200. By the way, Welcome to Jeepz!

    Paint Job?

As for me, I really don't like shiney Jeeps. I repainted my 89 YJ in my garage with Rust-O-Leum Professional, an air compressor and a nice rented paint gun. It took about 12 hours to do all of the prep work, sanding and taping, and about a half hour to shoot each coat. I like my semi-gloss...

    Crappie Fisherman?

I have always wanted to go fishing, but despite my frequent asking, I have yet to find someone to take me. I would go myself, but I havn't a clue where to start. I may be the only 27 year old American male that has never been fishing.

    Editing tools

If you want to do movies and photos and you don't know a lot about computers (and don't want to spend a few frustrating months learning software and getting to run well) just buy a MAC. After I did, I can do Anything I want, and I don't know anything about computers. MACs come from factory...

    Remington 700 in .308

If any one is in the pacific northwest and is into guns... I have a Remington 700 heavy barrel (.98" at the muzzle) kevlar/fiberglass stock, 2.5lb trigger, the action has been worked and she shoots really well. Comes with a 8-32 power BSA target scope and a sling. I don't normally call it...

Nice to have a YJ again

My wife and I sat down and worked out a plan to get out of debt, we decided to sell everything that we don't really need. As difficult as it is, my YJ is on the chopping block (we will keep the XJ). After all the student loans are paid off, I will get another one (although I am seriously...

    Blown out "clutch" knee

If you see a Coast Guard Recruit Company running through Cape May this weekend, say hi. (I'm glad I am done with that, boot camp is only fun in hindsight)

    28 mpg hyway in a CJ&?!?!?!?!

Brazil is a great example, the only problem with alcohol is that it won't vaporize or burn when the temprature gets close to or below freezing and that it takes more energy to make ethanol that you can get from burning it. My dad is an engineer at Ford (and I own two Jeeps!) and we have had...

    28 mpg hyway in a CJ&?!?!?!?!

Why come up with a better way when you are making a ton of money with a monopoly? Until consumers get fed up enough to start demanding (financially, ie, won't buy gas anymore) alternatives, the price will just keep going up and the company will continue to not look for alternatives.

    Electrical nightmare

My 89 YJ sahara 4.2, Motorcraft carb, nuttered, has been haveing major electrical problems lately. I don't even know where to start,(ignition switch won't send power to starter relay, brights won't come on, radio looses power all the time, and the really tight areas under the dash have quite a...

    28 mpg hyway in a CJ&?!?!?!?!

Gas in Seattle (where I live) has been holding at around $3.15 for a while. I am really looking into a diesel swap to get better mileage and start brewing biodiesel. As a country, we need to really look at making our cars run on something else. It's all supply and demand, if we can't live...

    Blown out "clutch" knee

So far my YJ has spent almost as much time in my garage undergoing surgery as it has on the trail. My wife has been a little alarmed at the amazing ability an old Jeep has to suck money out of a bank account, but I LOVE that Jeep and will probably spend thousands more than it is worth keeping...

    Just found this....

I just found this on Craigslist. It seems like a good deal. I don't have the cash, but if anyone wants it, here it is. I could go pick it up and store it for anyone who lives a ways away until they come get it. http://seattle.craigslist.org/oly/car/178320052.html

    HEI, Header YJ w 258

I need a header for my 89 YJ 4.2L, I prefer NOT emissions controlled and I need it really cheap if anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it. I am also looking into an HEI distributor for the same engine. If anyone has one, know where to get one (really cheap) or has plans on how to convert...

    another locker question

This post helsp me, too, Dads95YJ, I think I will go with the Lincoln Locker in the front and a Lock Right in the rear. That gives me the most bang for the buck. If I break something, I can tell my wife that it "just broke for no reason, so i might as well put something stronger in it".

    Lock it up

is there some magical inexpensive way to replace a d35 and d30 with something stronger? What would be a good swap? Am I correct in my assumption that when you start talking axle swap it's time to get overdraft protection for the bank account?
