    Hi-Ya Joopin, What follows might or might not apply to your 91 YJ, but... I had an 82 CJ that made a similar noise. The cause of the noise was a failed bearing at the bottom end -- engine compartment end -- of the steering column. That bearing is replaceable. Regards, Gadget
