    Hey, congratulations Terry!

    should I upgrade these axles?

Those have to be the most arched springs I have ever seen. The axles depend on your tire size. I would try to find some 3/4 tons since it looks like you're going to put on some combine tires and drive it to Dairy Queen and in the back yard. By the way, those mt's look pretty puny under there...

    changing my gear ratio

Yeah, $200 was just labor. I don't want to calculate the total cost for that rear axle... ignorance is bliss in this case.

    changing my gear ratio

Mine cost $200, but I took the axle to the shop with everything ready to go. The front will follow soon...

    258 swap for 304

I, personally, have fantasies of a 4.0 head with 6 cycle carbs. Along with other goodies.

    258 swap for 304

Tell me about this rear end

I think Steelheadz was going to swap out his gears. This would be his carrier...

Tell me about this rear end

No. I was just curious. If you bought it for less than $100, I would be considerably jealous. I already welded my diff. Shows you how cheap I am...

Tell me about this rear end

May I ask how much? That lunch box probably cost at least $250 new. What Kriss said. As sure as Elton John is gay, so is that piece a wonderful AMC20.

    CJ Rollcage in a TJ

The only way to know is trying it. ;) I think it would be cool, too, and I doubt it would weaken the body. Heck, I've seen half cab TJ's with no rollbar.

4" lift, would like to get another 2 inches

Your Jeep is very nice. If you're smart, you can wheel a stock Jeep. It won't hurt anything. Anyways, if you want the big dumb Jeep look, tack on a three inch body lift. Wham, you have SEVEN inches of bad boy, street rippin lift. Also, since you aren't going off road anytime soon, would you...

    Surface rust on the axle?

I tried POR-15 on my rear axle. I don't know what I did, but it peeled off in some spots. It looks like VHS tape when it peels, too. I wouldn't bother with the stuff. Rustoleum is cheaper and easier, and it smells nice...mooooh-(

TJ tub on a CJ7 Chassis?

Sell it and get a real tub.
  19. Collin the Hen

    CJ5 tub on CJ7 chassis

If I was bent on doing this, I would position the front end where it should be. Then I would stretch the rear like a CJ6. If you stretched the front, you'd have enough room to fit in a ridiculous straight eight. That would be interesting.

    1985 cj7 w/4 cyl. swap out

4.3's are in some S10's, 99% of Chevy Astros and GMC Safaries, and other GM trucks. Just wikipedia the engine. From what I've read, the sm420 might be hard to find. If you find an old GM hay truck, wrecker, or something big with a four speed it will probably be a 465. Also, you should do some...
