Jesse, some pictures of the frame would be helpful, but if it's really really bad you should get it taken care of. By taken care of I mean cut out and welded back up. YJ's aren't terribly notorious for rust, their frames are zinc plated and are supposed to hold up to the weather much better...

Jesus... Mike you ought to know better. Replacing one gear is an absolute NO! Gears are made in pairs and unless you just need something to get you off the trail and to the trailer, it's bad bad news. Have you checked all your u joints? Output bearing for the the front output on the tcase...

Check for loose metal parts. Heat shields, exhaust pieces, skid plates, etc. That's the best I can do right now.

It tends to be one of the first things people do to their Jeeps. I can honestly say I felt a difference after putting one in my YJ. It may not be much, but for the price it's a good gain.

Like SteelHeadz said, it's not a huge ordeal, it just takes some time and mechanical aptitude. Along with some amount of brute force and finesse. A Haynes manual should be able to walk you through it.

First off, do everyone a favor and quit ranting about how you can't put any larger tires on the 30 and 35 than what came on it. It happens every day and there are very few incidents with people running 31's blowing up their axles. 33+ yes, 32-, no. I've been at this for a while, been president...
