    Possible broken axle?

I can't believe that you would break anything in mud that slimy. So, instead of replacing the spiders, you are going to slap in a locker right?

    Optima vs. Platinum

I have a Napa Orbital dry cell that has been in my Jeep since 2002. I have drained it more times than I recall from sitting so long. A few minutes on the charger and she is ready to play all weekend. It's the equivalent of a red top. I can't say it's any better than another, but it has stood...

    203-205 doubler

It's a popular swap for guys running full size trucks with big engines and ton or bigger axles. If you do a twin stick conversion on the 205 and have the lever for the 203, You will have 3 levers total. I prefer the simplicity of having one transfer case where it only has one adapter to leak...

    A Winter Lightning Snow Storm!

We had some bad storms in the south last night. I awoke to a tornado siren at 3:30 a.m. this morning and huddle the family in our hideout. The news said someone had spotted one headed directly toward my area. Thank God it didn't hit. It was one of the most intense lightning storms I have...

    Lady Luck - Petersons 4 Wheel & Off-Road

I read that. Pretty cool. The article by Fred Williams about riding in TN and AL...I was supposed to have gone to the Alabama ride. The Elk Ranch place is about 15 miles from here. I ride a good bit with the group that were in those photos.

    The National Anthem and Lip-syncing.

I'm just proud that it was our anthem they were playing. We may not be so lucky next year if we end up with a Democratic (sympathiser) President to go with our Democratic Congress. We may have to listen to the Canadian and Mexican anthems as well. Gotta keep it PC and all. I don't know why...

    203-205 doubler

Lots of people in my area use them. The biggest benefits are cost as compared to other methods of achieving a lower low range and also having two seperate low ranges. The two downfalls are length and weight. The setup is strong, but I wouldn't say it was stronger than an Atlas. You could also...

How to straighten out a skid plate

If you really want to straighten it, pull it off and put it in a press. Then weld some re-inforcement in there wherever you can. Or, just leave it on there and continue to paint your canvas.

    Finally got my new Rokmens!

Mine are home made, but yeah I've been happy with them. They are great to stand on and have successfully fended off rocks and trees for years. I primed them with Sherwin 988 as I have most of the metal on my Jeep then coated them with black Rusto.

    Atlas question too low?

I think you will have problems with your front driveshaft being too long and your rear too short. Also strength issues. Definitely talk to someone running one in a YJ before dropping the coin.

Jeff Daniel's Winter Crawl @ Rausch Creek on 1/26

Who is Jeff Daniels? Any relation to Jack Daniels? Never heard of a guided trail ride where guides didn't have vehicles.

    Finally got my new Rokmens!

I sprayed mine....several times. Might also be good to pick up some grip tape from Lowe's. I used it all over my steps. It helps with muddy boots.

    Marbles in my engine!?!?!

Bearings of any nature will not make a sound after the engine stops turning. You're saying you can hear it for a brief time after the engine completely stops turning, right? That would lead me to believe that you have some back pressure in the exhaust (bad cat) that might be rattling a valve...

    Marbles in my engine!?!?!

Does it sound like valves rattling...like dieseling after you shut it off? It's pretty uncommon with fuel injected vehicles, but I suppose it's possible. Dump some Octane booster of high grade gas in it and see if it quits. Have you ever put in new plugs or done a tune up?

Unlimited gets large box truck unstuck from snow

I wish I had video of my F250 dragging a semi across our gravel parking lot. We were trying to pull an ISO container off the back of a tilt deck flatbed. The container didn't budge at first and my truck dragged the semi, trailer and container backwards about 10 feet before the container...

What's your favorite Jeep / Truck TV show?

I saw part of "on the Rocks" the other night and it was so weak, I turned it to Soap Net. Four Wheeler does show way too many re-runs and Becker is annoying, but at least they cover Top Truck every year. Superlift was moved from the Outdoor Channel to MOR-Mens Outdoor Recreation. MOR channel...

    Happy Martin Luther King Day!!

Smart man indeed, but not entirely correct about the crucifixion--at least how I read it. The part about two men fell below their environment (hell) and Jesus rose above (heaven)...is not correct. Read for yourself, Luke 23:33-43. I am not pretending to be a Biblical expert, but recalled the...

Change rears = better fuel mileage?

I'm not sure about your computer compatibility with the swap. Install it and see what it does. I'm not up on the newer Jeeps and don't know if they had electronically controlled transmissions, anti-theft system or what. Worst case is that you have to get the computer flashed to rewrite the...
