    Check engine

Back fire is usually the cause of a burn that is way to lean. You may have a vacuum leak in the intake manifold. Is it carbureted?

I think what you're trying to express Is called an opinion. I run a Holley 4 barrel double pump on my 79 150 it has a 428 cobra jet. I also use a holley 750 in my 70 nova SS W/a 454 and with a 10.3 1/4 time. I would have to say they run pretty good.

    Re-wired..?

Probably both! Electrical tape must have been on sale the day they rebuilt "Wilma". Cause its everywhere!! Even the starter solenoid... But I would be happy with making her mech sound. So I would rather do the engine bay first.

Are there enough holes in the frame to spray paint into? Some of the high end rust reformer paints do a pretty good job!

    Cj dies for no reason

It squirts gas every time I touch the peddle and when I was changing the fuel filter I hadn't tightened down one of the clamps. The second it started it sprayed gas every where. So I'm hesitant to blame the pump.

    Cj dies for no reason

Some times it will start back up right away sometimes I need a jump. I just had the electrical system checked by a buddy. He said the voltage regulator on the alt was messed up. Putting out 15 amps. So again I swapped the alt. Now it barely starts and won't stay running for longer than a few min

    Cj dies for no reason

I am proud new owner of a 1977 CJ7. She has a 258 4.2 and as far as I can tell a Carter carb (). I can be driving or at idle and for no rhyme or reason she will just die. I've already replaced the fuel filter, plug wires, dis cap, starter, alternator, and many of the hoses clamps and belts...
