    hard left, full throttle.

Just a suggestion since I don't remember if it was ever mentioned with regards to this whistling problem on your YJ . Has the weather stripping between the windshield frame and cowl been checked ? I say this because if air has been getting in between the frame and cowl , it may be causing a ram...

    Leaky brake help

It's funny , but yes , oil leaks do coat surfaces and slow or prevent rust. On the other hand , the opposite has occurred due to the ability of the oil trapping dirt and moisture causing corrosion. A clean surface obviously is always best. As far as the brake line routing , the rear line comes...

    Leaky brake help

yes sir , that the hydraulic hard line . Right above it is the bleeder screw . Be careful when it comes time to open the bleeder screws , they always freeze up from rust . Clean the threads that are visible well and wet them down with penetrating oil and let it soak in a good while . Clean out...

    Leaky brake help

BTW , yes , the thick cable like lines going into the backing plate below the axle tube are your parking brake cables . The hydraulic line(s) will be your fluid lines into the wheel cylinders . I did not re-read my first post in this thread to see if I mentioned my preferred method to loosening...

    Leaky brake help

Hopefully it's just the crimp on the hydraulic hose that is leaking . Please inspect the hard line above the crossmember ( difficult to see from the photo , probably more difficult to access , sorry ) for any corrosion and/or leaks . Spraying brake fluid from a leak over time causes decay of the...

In my last post , I said the oil pump is bolted to the main cap . That is incorrect . On an in-line engine , it's bolted to the block where it accesses the oil gallery . Must have had a V8 on my mind. Sorry for the wrong info. Recently , I just installed a rear main seal in my 258 and found it...

spins but wont crank......driving me insane!!!!!

Well , as it turns out , the ignition coil was the weak link. I was thinking to approach this step by step to verify actual voltage response from both the RUN and START ( cranking ) at the coil positive post to eliminate or isolate a possible fault there before moving to the secondary ignition ...

    Ford gpw 1942

Well , it looks like the GPW and the wrangler YJ are best of friends ! I would like to see both compete on some hill climbing . Although the wrangler has a reputation that is hard to beat off road , my money is on the GPW !

spins but wont crank......driving me insane!!!!!

Verify ignition coil positive post is hot in CRANK and START . This will tell you if there is a fault in the ignition switch on the steering column. A test light will be suffice.

To be clear , you've had the head of a screw from the choke valve fall into the intake ? While destructive enough to an intake valve facing and small enough to get caught in a piston ring ( possibly) , I don't see how the ignition timing would have jumped 180 degrees out. Did you pull the...

Any trick to getting a frozen caliper off?

Agreed , there really isn't any quick way since the caliper piston is frozen and a conventional C - clamp won't handle it . Ball joint C-press may cause destruction . The outer edge of the rotor can be ground with a die grinder since your swapping them but reaching the inner edge of the rotor...

    Cj7 stalling

    Cj7 stalling

Hello and welcome to jeepz.com. Since your temp gauge isn't working was just wondering if your fuel gauge was . They work as a pair on the CJ and should be replaced as a pair as well. That sometimes presents problems with the fuel tank sending unit in terms of compatability for accurate ( or...
