IJC Summer Camp 2016, Shimshal, Khunjerab and Naltar, May 27th-31st!

By the grace of God , your teams always return unharmed and your rigs always return in serviceable condition with minimal damage . That in itself is skill . You guys are a force to be reckoned with ! I'm sure that every trek your teams make just makes you guys better off roaders than the great...

    New 2015 Jeep Renegade

Perhaps I'm being too judgemental. I should be happy that there is an effort on the part of the manufacturer that the jeep name is still alive and kicking and has not disappeared with the likes of Oldsmobile and Pontiac firebirds . Just wonder how that fancy nine speed will fair ! May make an...

What is ths stiking out of the plassic radiator tank?

We just don't get a break , do we ? Most would think the radiator fix would be the tough job compared to a radio knob . No slack , they just don't make radio knobs the way they used to. That bothers me to . That's why things never get completed . Can't find decent parts sometimes .

IJC Summer Camp 2016, Shimshal, Khunjerab and Naltar, May 27th-31st!

As dangerous as the trek is on those narrow mountain trails , the scenery is incredible . I'm certain that is what draws four wheelers to make the difficult trail blazing on these tours . It's not just about man and machine , it's about enjoying the beautiful landscape and clean fresh air ...

    New 2015 Jeep Renegade

I'm sorry , but whenever I see one on the road , the last thing I'm thinking of is giving a wave . Makes me wonder , did someone in marketing get the bright idea of trying to attract a new wave of " jeepers " to the party again ? The day that the phrase " SUV " was coined and 4wd or 4 wheeler...

What is ths stiking out of the plassic radiator tank?

That cap which is secured with a clamp is split ! It looks like a bypass port depending on what application it can be used for besides the engine that is currently installed . But regardless , the clamp and cap must be replaced !

    1979 CJ Won't start

Good call . A non functioning or partially open EGR valve should not be overlooked . It will produce an over rich mixture at idle and will be pronounced as you accelerate . The result is backfiring . Instead of just pulling the vacuum line , pull the EGR valve and clean the port as well as the...

    duraspark ignition module?

From the description of the under hood wiring , it sounds like not much if anything was removed from the original system and the injection system and ECM/PCM ( depending on what year system was installed) was just installed over it . About the only wiring that comes to mind that may have been...

    75 cj5

I whole heartedly agree . My dad had found through a test over 15 years ago that he too needed bypass surgery . He's still here thanks to modern medicine. I've elected to secretly give him my 1980 cj5 since he likes to drive it and bugs me to insure and register it ( not done with resto work...

How NOT to un-roll your Jeep

Thankfully , no one bought it from the snapped winch line ! I think the keystone cops could have done better than these guys . It's obvious the engine was still running to produce the runaway almost comical but dangerous error . Amazing the roll over valve didn't stall the engine . This is one...

    duraspark ignition module?

Your most welcome . More pictures of the current install of the fuel and ignition system are welcome since injection and ignition system upgrade is a hot topic on the CJ and other jeeps of the '70's and '80's era. Your jeep seems to be successful and will be a good starting point for anyone whom...

    75 cj5

thank you ! It will be a long road for me too ( and $$ as you know ) but thankfully the 1980 needs just some TLC body work and rust prevention to last long into the future but the 1973 is a build . You've gone that route ( with two jeeps if I recall ? ) and now you cruise with pride . The 1973...

It's been a while but we got our faith in senior members so don't worry , we left the light on for you . I especially pay attention to your jeep build since I'm currently on the same route . Since your last posts , I've acquired two cj5's myself. One , a 1980 powered by Pontiac which is posted...

    duraspark ignition module?

Hello and welcome to jeepz.com . Thank you for your posts and sharing your repair project with us. It no doubt helps to serve anyone else who may encounter the same questions upon upgrade as you are now doing. If the injection system and ignition are in fact installed correctly and the driver...

    Ford gpw 1942

Thank you for advising of the upcoming event. Looking forward to pictures which are always welcome of your outings and the vehicles that attend. As far as the website links , I guess that would be best answered by the administration and/or moderate. Very respectful to be asked but you are a man...

    hard left, full throttle.

The only other thing that comes to mind at the moment is the air duct itself. Having had to remove it from my '73 CJ to remove the upper tunnel access cover to do a clutch job a few weeks ago now has me thinking of any entrance points that air can infiltrate . Let's see , the fresh air port on...

    Leaky brake help

I'll go with that . The first place to look for a leak if none is found on the brake lines and hoses or wheel cylinders and calipers would be the rear seal of the master cylinder . Rust is a dead giveaway . If you've got power brakes then brake fluid is sure to make its way into the power...
