    Windshield frame ID

cj windshield frame. You can use it as I understand but the frame has no holes for the wranglers bars that attach to the upper corner of the frame. If you have a hard top you may have to play with it a bit where the top fits over the lip of the frame.

    1978 cj (304-360-401) distributor cap

Yes, that notch is to align the cap, should be a tab on distributer body. I was under the impression that the caps notch wasn't lining up with the distributers tab.

    1979 CJ Won't start

do you have a hose going to your vacumn advance can on your distributer coming from your carb or manifold? The lack of vacumn advance can cause bucking and backfiring while driving.

    1978 cj (304-360-401) distributor cap

Im not sure gus. They may have given you a prestolite cap. They were earlier distributers..

    1979 CJ Won't start

If your lean then you need more fuel not less, but as said above unburnt gas in the exhaust will backfire on deceleration. Im not real familiar with the 258 single barrel carbs so im not sure how the adjustments are.

    1979 CJ Won't start

backfiring: carb or timing! bring your engine to TDC, make sure your rotor button is pointing to #1 spark plug tower at distributer. Make a reference mark on your balancer and timing cover, that is "0" or TDC. Adjust your timing from there, or go to a performance shop and buy a timing tape for...

    Moser 1 piece amc 20

It has been a long time since I have installed a set, but if you have the end play set correctly then I would think it is fine. If I remember correctly the end play is all there is to set. Ran mine for almost ten years with no problems

    Jeep Forum Noob

Agree^^ Sounds like a plug wire is cracked and letting the spark jump. look under the hood closely in the dark with the engine running, look for a spark along the wires somewhere.

How can i tell what cj7 i have?

The renegade, golden eagle ect.... were nothing special, All cj,s from 76-81 had either 6 or 8 cyl engine, front dana 30, rear AMC 20, dana 20 transfercase, and either a 3spd or 4spd transmission. The models were nothing more than a sicker and a few added options like A/C, levi interior, stuff...

How can i tell what cj7 i have?

Ok, so the joke may be on me, lol. just seen in another post that you have a 79 cj7 not a 93, I just seen "model 93" at the end of your post, and assumed it was model year. In that case, yes with a automatic trans you should have the quadra trac transfer case and offset rear AMC model 20 rear...

What do you guys think of the 304?

The 304 has either 125 or 150 hp and the 360 has 25 hp more. All the AMC v8,s will interchange as a direct bolt in except for a motor mount change on the 6cyl, they are not a direct bolt in on the 4cyl models. The 304 is a good engine, I have had many. They have a slight oiling problem to the...

How can i tell what cj7 i have?

Guys, he asked what kind of "CJ7" his "93" is.. NO CJ made in 93 (last year for cj was 86), no off set rear axle in 93, and no quadra trac transfer case in 93. you have a square head light "YJ" wrangler not a cj-7, they have different drive trains than the cj, and you need to know its a...

spins but wont crank......driving me insane!!!!!

Ok, so your getting 9.3 volts.. not enough! I think it could be either the coil or ignition switch. my vote is to replace the coil first since it is the simplest and if that's not it, I would replace the ignition switch. I pretty confident one of these two is your problem.

    roughrider

When he put the oil pump in. could the oil pump shaft some how turned the rotor? kinda how you can walk a rotor around by lifting the distributer turning one tooth and dropping it back in.. as Greg has said, I would put it back to TDC lift the distributer up turn the rotor back to TDC and drop...

spins but wont crank......driving me insane!!!!!

This sounds like a failing ignition switch. As said above, check voltage at positive side of coil while cranking the engine over, should see 12 volts on the meter. check for loose connections at the ignition switch. Since it does start when you let go of the key, kinda sounds like the problem...

    Wind shield wiper arms

I am afraid you are going to have to live with it. This has been a on going problem for a long time with aftermarket frames and rods. Don't know if its the rods or the frames or both.. I have bought two frames using factory rods and had issues, and one set of rods using factory frame and had...

    Chev 350.. possible transmissions

From what im seeing both the th350 and th400 will need an adapter for the dana 20 case. a GM 205 tcase would bolt to your th350 I think and is much stronger than the dana 20, but low range in the 205 is terrible for crawling.
