Carter AFB will not idle down

Here's the difference; No wonder those springs were hanging up the fast idle cam tang  ...but do you think I could find these locally.... NO

Seat over covers for Corbeau A4

I've got 'BB' outfitted with a pair of Corbeau A4 seats that I find very comfortable. The trouble is the neoprene seat covers I puchased seperately about five years ago didn't exactly fit the contours of this seat and now the seams have given out on one side and I'm wondering if there's...

Turbogus' long slow Team Rush upgrade

Day two using those sandblasted plugs and still running like a champ. I'm beginning to think those 646 plugs can wait until my next tune up, or until I can afford the MSD 6.

Carter AFB will not idle down

After getting into it more closely I finally found that the throttle return springs were rubbing on the cam of the kickdown slowing/prohibiting it's motion. Going to try to find offset throttle return springs.

Carter AFB will not idle down

My inner mechanic had a word with me this morning before I got up, I'll bet I didn't put enough spring tension on the clockspring of the electric choke. I may get into that today during my break.

Carter AFB will not idle down

Now that I've got the ignition figured out time to tune that "Black Stallion" Carter AFB (like an Edelbrock Performer) I've had since the mid '80's. A couple of years back it developed a small leak at the primary throttle shaft. I sent it in for bushing installation and following that I did a...

Turbogus' long slow Team Rush upgrade

I re-routed the wiring for the right bank to go under the Bypass hose to get it away from the Coil wire :D :D :D "Black Betty" is on the road again and downright 'peppy' I don't think she's ever ran this good since I got her.

Turbogus' long slow Team Rush upgrade

Yesterday after work I modified the route of the right bank spark plug wiring to go under the Bypass hose maintaining as best I could the wire seperation. When I get some more kazooks I'll get more wire sperators, or make some. I was getting Handyman magazine for a while and they kept sending me...

Turbogus' long slow Team Rush upgrade

:p Yesterday afternoon at work turned out to be a screwed up fiasco, the likes of which I'll not go into here. Suffice to say I made no progress on this project last night. I found a very informative thread in the last couple of weeks on another forum by BusaDave concerning this upgrade...

Turbogus' long slow Team Rush upgrade

If anything, it hinders my sleep... I occasionally turn in bed when I'm sleeping and when I do, the CPAP mask pulls on my face and if that doesn't wake me up the rush of air into my eyes sure does. Over the last couple of years I've been required to use this 'snake oil' device I've tried...

Turbogus' long slow Team Rush upgrade

Before I pollute those new 646 plugs I ran the 65's through my mini sandblaster spark plug cleaner. It took a while, I think I need some new media but I only need a couple of fistfuls worth. I gapped 'em out to 45 and stopped short. I've been zombie'n hard between sleep interference from this...

Turbogus' long slow Team Rush upgrade

Well I finally found the Autolite 646 plugs in town, but the Copper Never Seize 11 miles away. So much for the consumer desert.

Turbogus' long slow Team Rush upgrade

I just ran across a photo of the stock location of the spark plug wires, I wish I'd have seen that before I began this adventure. Mine are kind of messy, but I'd been advised to seperate each wire as far as i could. I guess these old AMC motors are right finiky, the Chevy 350's I'd run in the...

Turbogus' long slow Team Rush upgrade

I would be JPN, but upon startup I could tell that the motor was loading up the plugs. I turned the distributor to get at that alignment tab but did not remove it. I had returned the distributor was very near where it was before this work, I was intending to check the timing but dinner was...

Turbogus' long slow Team Rush upgrade

It was a tight fit, on account of the forward vacuum hose but it's tight and installed now. Since I moved the distributor when I added that alignment tab I'll re-time the motor to spec. I've got to get some dielectic grease on the rotor tip and tab before I forget. :D

Turbogus' long slow Team Rush upgrade

Well, I had a custom mounting from the P.O. for the canister coil and I was able to modify it to fit the e coil prettry easily with a cut off wheel and my bench grinder. I then just drilled two matching holes for the smaller bosses on the coil and it's very snug.
