Timbern installation in a 97 Jeep TJ

I would look at firestone air bags before I look at timbrens. If I remember correctly, the timbrens have a constant rate and may effect driving characteristics on a front axle when un-loaded (harsh ride, hopping around corners.) With a more traditional firestone type airbag, you can inflate...

    Axle relocation plates

I run these from Ruff Stuff on my DD pick up. (I also swapped from 10 bolt to D60 so aftermatket stuff was needed) I did a shackle flip and it moved the axle foward about 1/2 inch so I moved the axle rearwards about 3/4 of an inch to re-center as best I could in the wheel well. No problems at...

where to get amc 304 reman heads

This^^ last time I checked it was just north of $1000 for a set of edelbrock aluminum heads. Some simple machining, valve job and replace any components that appear worn will work wonders for your old heads. They are heavy, but AMC heads actually flowed pretty well from the factory.

Whats wrong with this picture ?

Just food for thought. If your going to swap any motor into that 59 chassis, I would not bother with a V8, every other system and component in the jeep will suffer and ultimately fail (frame, t-case, trans, axles, ect..) The vehicle was never designed to have a motor produce that much power. If...

Whats wrong with this picture ?

That first jeep is a steel tub that appears to be recently painted, the front fenders and hood appear to be original and in surprisingly good shape. My concern is why the tub is painted and/or restored and not the rest. Might be covering up rust might have just been repaired. For the asking...

    Getting an oil pump primed

If your confident that the pump is good? With the valve covers off, prime the motor, if your getting oil to the head, probably a bad guage or sending unit (manual vs electric). Since 99% of the engines that come my way now are LS based, been a long time since I was inside a AMC V8, but the oil...

    Wheel adapters

^This^ I have avoided them like the plague but recently I needed to run a 1.5" spacer on my SAS'ed chevy to clear my lower control arms at full lock. (Fingers crossed) I have not had a problem yet. Plenty of red loc-tite and torque to 110 ft-lb

    Black grille on white jk

Here is my advice.. Bedliner is meant for applications in a pick-up bed and is not intended to be a cosmetic finish. That said, it will be damn near implossible to ever get it cleaned, will fade and turn gray with time. Bed liner for a exterior finish is a horrible idea, heck, bed liner for a...

    Need help figuring problem out

Define "firing" Also a better description of your symptoms would be helpful. Is the motor cranking, if so, are you getting spark? Did you check fuel? Does the gauge go to zero while you turn the ignition to start only (while turning over the motor) or does it always stay at zero with the key...

    Jeep 5.9 cam?

Answers to what, your first post does not ask a question. To answer the questions in this post; no this is not the proformance thread, this is the performance thread. Yes I have built more motors than years you have been alive. Not sure if you can use proformance to measure "lift kits and...

    ISO TJ coils

I have a set of XJ coils, stock out of a 99 and were removed almost 10 years ago. They have been sitting in my shed for 10 years. all yours, just pay for shipping from Massachuseets. But might be cheaper to just pull them from a yard local to you though.

    TJ drop pitman arm

I bought this to use on my chevy SAS but ended up a different route. It is (I believe) a tera-flex drop pitman arm. I bought this couple years ago and I do not recall the exact manufacturer. It was originally intended for a TJ but will fit other like saginaw boxes. I reamed the arm, from the...

    Steering upgrade (tie rod conversion)

Depending on how much lift your running, Hi-steer would be the way to go. Look into the WJ conversion, junk yard parts are always cheaper and will raise your steering linkage and up-grade your brakes. But if your wearing out steering parts in 6 months, I would venture to guess either something...

    What gears should I go?

Really? you swapped in a TTB ford D35 front axle? Back on topic Here is my suggestion, if your looking to only replace the rear and are looking for a junk yard axle, 87-89 XJ and 98+ TJ's are what you want to look for. they will have the propper bolt pattern and WMS-WMS to match your D30...

electric fuel pump for AMC 304

The tank needs to vent. i recomend a in-line roll over vent if you plan on wheeling where it might roll. if not, just vent to atmosphere, preferably under the jeep away from exhaust.

    Under carriage (rock) lighting

I use the cheap NAPA tractor lights, 4 total with wiring and relay costs about $36 total. I like the cheap lights so if one goes bad or breaks, it is only $7 to replace. I have one up under the rad. fram mount, one in the rear where the gas tank was and one on each side under the door opening...

Jeep YJ on 43" Stickies, KING Coiloves, and more

Been following you on Facebook as well as over on pirate, stuff looks awesome and I am enjoying the "thinking out of the box" approach. Just wondering for a future build, what is your price point for the sub-frame? What are we talking about for vertical seperation on the front links at the...

Also pre-98 grand cherokee seats are very comfy adn supposedly bolt in swap for YJ&TJ, I assume some CJ's as well (<- internet info that I have not verified.) If price is not a problem, suspension seats. Best darn seats to plop your tooshy into, especially if your bouncing around on a trail...
