    Trans swap difficulty

I found a '99 TJ Sport that had been rolled. The owner bought a new tub but it just sat. tub & drive train $750. It's a 5spd. Could I swap in the 5spd & t case into my jeep?

    Speed-o problems

I love how these places ask you for specific details about your vehicle & still give you the wrong part. According to AutoZone, the rear axle for a 2005 Jeep TJ Wangler X with the 4.0 & auto trans is the Dana 44. I've argued with them & had them crawl under the Jeep to see that the diff gasket...

    Speed-o problems

The into that is in the t case is fairly long with a square shaft at the end that the speedo gear drives... The part that they gave me is short & has a metal drum about the diameter of a nickel & .75 in long... Still no speed :-(

    Speed-o problems

Well I ordered a speed sending unit from AutoZone & tore into taking the old one out... just to find out that it wasn't the same part :-\

    Speed-o problems

I got the 231 from Davey's Jeep here in OH & he said it was out of an '05 TJ (same as mine) so I was dumfounded to see that they were different. The jeep runs fine & shifts fine... Just no speedometer

    Speed-o problems

A while back my t-case went on me big time (& took the sending unit with it) & I replaced it... The plug colors don't match but I thought I could rig it... Original colors are white/orange, blue/orange & black. The new (used) plug wires are yellow/orange, purple/white & blue... I can't get my...

Somebody else was pushing the 14 bolt & how much better it was than the D60... Does anybody run one or had any experiences here?

There is a "salvage yard" next door to my job & I'm sure that they'll have a ford truck or two (or ten) that I can choose from

    My little hillbilly

Just thought I'd share this pic of my son, Ryland. We were browsing around Tractor Supply Co. & I put this hat on him... I had to fight with him to get it back!!! He loved it

    Rear axle choices

There are a few around but they don't have ANY TJs... or Wranglers or CJs. Davey's Jeeps buys them all

    Rear axle choices

Davey's charges a premium for "used" parts... a lot more than any junkyard would. It looks like the D60 is the way to go if I can find one with 4.88s in it... What about (stock) traction, i.e. limited slip, positrac or open. I know open sucks in snow so I figure it's no good on the trail... but...

    Rear axle choices

There's a guy near the 4WDHardware in Colombiana that buys almost ever Wrangler that's destined for the scrap yard for a premium & parts them out... He's got everything sorted & inventoried... So finding a direct bolt in d44 is gonna be like finding a Ethiopian chicken :-(

    Rear axle choices

It still drives (on road :-( ) well enough but there is a clacking metal noise coming from the rear diff & I'm afraid it's not long before she pops. I'm afraid to tear off the cover & have parts fall out.
