    GENNYBRO wants a M715

I've got a Scrambler project I've been collecting parts for and working on here and there. I've wanted one since they came out (I was in middle school then). I was looking at mine the other day thinking about pulling the missing pieces of it's puzzel from my CJ5. I hate to do that but I like...

The U.S. Government Is Shut Down

Hate to hear that, hope they get it strait soon so you can get back to work. They like to argue on capitol hill, I wouldn't think they'd let up on that for too long.

The U.S. Government Is Shut Down

Ok, if they're shut down does that mean they're not able to waste our tax dollars or is that on auto pilot?

    Does anyone know these wheels?

Oh man, those look terribal on that Jeep...tell ya what just to help out a fellow forum member I'll buy 'em. (this was a joke- attempted humor- please do not be offended) I've see these over the years on vintage 4X4's, Jeeps, ford trucks and early broncos. I love 'em, they're not a wheel you see...

    GENNYBRO wants a M715

I love the M715's, it's on my list of most wanted. The guy that owns the 4x4 shop in town has a nice one, with a 460cu and massive rubber. I've seen 'em for sale here an there over the years. Most of the time they weren't asking much for them but they'd be looking needy. Saw one on ebay last...

    Saying Goodbye

Jeeps aren't always practical, I understand if it ain't earning it's keep sometimes you have to cut one loose. I think that if you have ever owned one more than likely you will own one again at some point. Good luck, don't be a stranger. Share what you have learned with others.

What are your plans for the Jeep? Is it going to see any trail use or is it going to be super slick?

    shifting problem

What trans is this? Could be in the shifter forks. Some have teflon pads that wear on the shifter forks, sometimes the forks themselves wear. Did you replace all syncros?

    Lucas Transmission Fix

I'll have to say I always feel better after a good flush, maybe your Jeep will too.

    Pinion nut stripped?

When you examine the pinion threads if you see a bad spot it the threads you may be able to repair them with a thread file. Also you may want to see if a plain nut the same thead (without loctight) will thread freely down to where it's suppose to seat.

    Lucas Transmission Fix

Wonder if this could be the pump? If so I'm sure the part had a warranty and labor should be covered thru the failed part. Again, it was driveable before the pump, torque converter and seal install. This guy should do some wrenching on his own time.

    86 cherokee 2.8L V6

Have you pulled a plug and grounded it against the head while someone turned the engine over? Have you pulled the distributor cap and watched to see if the rotor is actually turning?

    76 CJ5 project.....could use some advice.

Seems like I had to remove a cross bar under the pan from side to side on the frame but it was no biggie. I'd do the same and remove the pan also if it were mine. I dropped my pan and found alot of silicone stuck to the pump screen plus sludge and other stuff...that an oil change wouldn't...

    1983 cj5 restoration

I'd say there's good and bad in all of them. I like quadrajets when it comes to a 4barrel. Finding a good used one these days is rare, they're more complicated than others but if you get one that's right, and a good match for your engine they're hard to beat. I had one rebuilt several years...

    1983 cj5 restoration

Personally I like the motorcraft 2 bbl that's on my 304 v8. I had to rebuild it soon after I got my Jeep but like the rest of the Jeep it was due. It has a spring on the float to compensate for offroad bounce. It's reasonable on fuel for an old V8 (14 MPG) and the choke works like it should...

    1983 cj5 restoration

I was told the tub was stronger without the tailgate and less to rattle. I hated mine didn't come with one. I think they offer a kit to add a gate but as rough as mine is I wouldn't go to the trouble. I've got an old Willys tailgate hanging on my basement wall, I tell people I'm going to...

    1983 cj5 restoration

I thought tailgates were a factory option. The CJ 5 I'm driving now doesn't have one. If it has been altered they did a good job. ( and if so, it is the only thing they did right to the body!) I will say I have never seen a CJ 7 without one.
