I dont think so, too much oil blown on the other side of the engine. I am pulling the oil send unit out to re-seal the threads just for the heck of it and since its so easy to get to at this point.

I've been going through the same deal except at the front of the pan. It's all a crappy design. 2 piece main, pan gaskett in 4 pieces. This will be my second time on mine. I've had much better luck keeping old Harleys from leaking than I have this 304. Maybe it's AMF instead of AMC.

I carry a 4x4 wooden block for an ebrake or if it's a real emergency I aim for something cheap.

Will the kit have some kind of ebrake?

Were the factory Jeep tops better? Did they last longer? Were they thicker?

I've never run them, are they an all terrain tire? I was thinking if you had a pure mud type tire that'd be where your problem came from.

I'll agree with the other posts about alignment and also say tires can cause you some driving issues also. I had a set of mudders on a truck years ago and it would hunt every crack in the road and try to follow it. Those tires were awesome offroad but were awful on road. If everythings right...

Look the frame over from front to back for rust holes or poor patches, The worst areas will be on either side of the rear wheels. Also look around the steering box for cracking. 304's aren't rare, they're basicly a good engine, I'd get it good and hot and see what kind of oil press it has. I'm...

Good to see that oil has moly in it and zinc but I wouldn't know if it was a large portion or not. It'd be nice to have samples from other oils so you could compair 'em. I thought they took zinc out of the SM rated oils due to it being hard on cat converters as the engine got older and started...

Does it have good oil pressure? Sometimes an exaust leak can sound just like a bad lifter. Check manifold bolts and around doughnut gasketts.

Prob coulda made some good quick $$$ off of it. The cheapest one I've seen in my area that ran an drove was $4500. It sold quick for that, not sure what it had more of...bondo or rust.
