Need trouble shooting help with a Dodge truck...

I know this is a great place for Jeep info an I know it's off topic but I was wondering if I could get some help with trouble shooting a problem with my sons '99 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4? There are times he can be driving it and the engine will just die. Almost as if you turned the key off. It...

    Engine Build Suggestions

A cloyes true roller dual timing chain setup for sure. It's expensive but due to it's design it will last much longer with less lube than other chains. The AMC V8's don't oil well in this area. There are some mods you can make to help with oiling short comings of the AMC V8's, if you research...

    Are aluminum slots still available?

I was for sure Ansen still made 'em...they do but not in the bolt circle you need...at least that I have found. Summit Racing has a wheel that's kinda close if you serach Summit Racing 50/51 series machined wheels sum-50-5885k you can see what I mean. I do believe if you hang in there and beat...

    Removing clear coat from wheels?

I've got a set of chrome CJ Laredo wheels that were cleared from the factory and it's all cracked, turned white and flaking off. I took some thinner to a spot or two and under the clear the chrome looks new. It takes some rubbing and soaking with the thinner but it works. If anyone has done this...

Please help me find and get a repair estimate for this oil leak

If it were me I'd get me a can of engine degreaser and clean the engine the best I could an then run it a bit, keep an eye on it an see if you can see where it comes from. Odds are good if you do have a leak and it's just not where you spilled oil that it is a valve cover gaskett like Gennybro...

    79 cj7

Yep it's a 4 speed, the SR4 I think it's called. I also assumed it had 4.10's when I bought it and was dissapointed when I read the diff tag. I'm pretty sure this one has never been appart. I can't vouch for the first 10yrs of it's life but from then on I know the field it sat in very well...

    79 cj7

My '81 CJ8 equipped with Renagade Sport package ( narrow trac of course) and the iron duke 4cyl came with 3.54 gears. I also assumed that all 4cyls had 4.11's. I'm not sure if it was special order or what the deal is with it. All I can say is I was very dissapointed after checking the numbers.

    E-brake 75 CJ5 / vs Bronco parts?

It sucks that as many cj5's as were made something like 606,000 or so from 55 to 83 and it's the longest running production Jeep they made finding parts is such a pain. You never see one in a junkyard, if you do it's picked clean. Then you get a 4x4 mag or catolog and all they want to sell is...

    E-brake 75 CJ5 / vs Bronco parts?

My '70 Chevy truck rear drum has what sounds to be the same "e-brake strut" and spring your describing. Probably a pretty universal set-up.

Sorry the pics sideways but anyway, that's my old project drill press. It's hard to get it all in a pic.

Harbor Freight vice vs Trackbar bushings

I will say this, I have a drill press in my basement that is old enough that it used to be run via a belt in the ceiling of a factory- via a steam engine outside the factory. At some point it was converted to electric and a motor plate added on top. A friend had it laying on it's side in a...

Harbor Freight vice vs Trackbar bushings

I've got the exact same one on my table at work. I've never put much load on it though. There's a Wilton that's mounted on our fab table I like to use that I'm sure came from Noah's ark. I've got a Columbian here at home that's a hoss. If I were you I'd search craigslist or the flea mkts for...

    Does anyone know these wheels?

I think it depends on how you wheel. If you run the tire pressure real low and are heavy on the throttle in the rocks they prob wont last long. If it's a dual purpose rig and you wheel it like you might drive it to work on monday they'll last right on. Also if you see yourself adding lockers...

    Does anyone know these wheels?

You will probably see more 8's than 10's, that's one reason I like yours so much. Just be patient, keep an eye out they'll fall in your lap when you least expect it. There was a set on a late 70's ford 4x4 for sale down the road from me a while back. I considered asking the owner if he would...
