    problems replacing lower steering bearing

If it slipped out should slip back in. I'm not familiar with the bearing your talking about but this may help if it's a small clearance issue. Put the bearing in the freezer for a couple hours or so, this will shrink it. Then at least have the race in a warm place, like out in the sun for a...

    Loping Motor or Bucking Bronco

304's are known for the timing chains being short lived, I replaced mine while back. They don't oil well in this area. I bought a Cloyes true dual roller for replacement. I can't really see it just going all at once though. Might be the ignition box on the fender but that's just me guessin. Does...

    1957 Jeep forward control 150

I think it's pos ground, not 100% sure. A friend had an early flat fender and it was 6volt pos ground. When they look up what battery size it calls for where you buy it they should know for sure. My 46 Plymouth is pos ground. Make sure if you run a 6volt battery that you have 6volt cables...

    jeep for sale....umm burning?

I've got to go get a dictionary an look up Ugly an see if that's the pic beside the definition. God I hope that's the only one. That's the first time I ever looked at a Jeep an instantly got a headache.

    Wacky Alternator?

I'm no guru but I'd say it's the regulator, if it were me I'd put a meter on the bat cables just for the heck of it an see what it showed. At least it under warranty. Just curious where did you buy it?

    75 CJ-5 custom build

I like the cherry picker idea, I saw that on the Scrambler forum. Also saw where the same guy used 2 engine stands as a rotissery for the tub. He had a long piece of pipe clamped to the front leg of each of em to make it stable. Looks like your doing a great job, good luck with it.

    Restored vs. Reproduced

You have raised a very good question. I don't think it's easily answered. I've been forllowing Scramblers for several years on Ebay and Craigslist and I know the closer they are to original the more they bring. Now that being said, you sometimes see that really nice one on 35's with a V8 swap...

Oldest son wants a Jeep for first vehicle

I'd say a Cherokee would be an excelent choice. I had an 88 an it was prob the most dependable vehical I've ever owned. I really like the 4.0 engine and parts for them are reasonable. The kids got good taste, at least he's not interested it a lowered honda civic with a fart pipe.

What do you do for a living?

Maintenance Tech in a factory, I work on mechanical and hydraulic presses mostly but really were a jack of all trades there. Might be pouring concrete one day, running conduit an wire the next. Not very exciting but I do like always doing something different, cuts down on boredom.

    Name of Jeep Part

Personally I would keep the embem there, since the "JEEP" is missing from the tub. Gives it a bit of contrast. Most people wouldn't know anyway. Most people don't know the difference between a CJ5,6,7 or 8. I drove my Scrambler to the tire store today an a lady said " How cute you made a truck...
