T4 YJ transmission on a cj?

I don't believe the "95 YJs came with a T4 from the factory. The "95 4cyl would have an AX5 & the 6 cyl would have an AX15. What xfer case is bolted to it. The T4s that came in the early "80s CJs were mated to the Dana300 xfer cases. The "80s T4s came on CJs with 4 cyl or 6cyl engines.

What does everyone want for Christmas?

AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I guess I'm getting old...just spending time with my kids & my grandsons & the rest of the family (sisters, brother in-laws nieces & nephews) is all I need for a Merry Christmas. Hope I'm not being greedy when I hope for some garage time too.

Jeep tales - tales of the jeep

I think this time your Dad might be right....you can use the cold weather months to paruse the catalogs & daydream(aka plot & plan) your resto-mod. As to the rollbar frame tie in I agree(for what that's worth) that welding to the frame & bolting ala sandwich thru the body to the rollbar is the...

Jeep tales - tales of the jeep

I always liked the Clay-mores & trip wire method. Congrats on the "new" CJ5. The "80 4 banger is the Pontiac Iron Duke. Really not a bad motor except for the oil leak tendency. My first Jeep was an "82 CJ5 with a 4 banger & a 4 speed. Got me Jeep hooked in a hurry. You do know WE NEED SOME...

Fuse box (glove compartment) direct 10 amp wire for 99 Wrangler

10amps sounds a bit low for 2 seat warmers. The charger doesn't take much, but electric heaters usually have a pretty high amperage draw. Check the documentation with and/or markings on the seat warmers to see how many amps each one draws then make sure your fused to handle about 10percent over...

    Whineing noise,when engageing clutch

I agree with Steady Foot...sounds like a throw out issue....also check to make sure your trans & clutch are lined up correctly. I once had a trans loosen up where it bolts to the bellhousing...it squealed like a pig.

    Holy Cats! A T18 WITH a Saturn overdrive ?!?

I think the price shows just how rare these birds are....I've paid less than $2000 for many a Jeep.

    Radiator overflow bottle

I agree with greg92jeepxj. The Ignition Module would normally be mounted on the drivers side fender near the rear of the fender(under/in front of the brake MC).I would expect the overflow bottle to mount closer to the radiator. If I remember right(which only happens on occasion) the washer...

    Radiator overflow bottle

I agree with JPNinPA...You need it. Many older CJs did not come from the factory with an overflow bottle. I'm not sure about 1986, that may be why you don't have existing mounting holes, but it would be well worth the effort to add one on.

Gas pump keeps shitting iff when filling

The fill hose on the 76-85 CJs makes a pretty tight bend. I've had CJs of that era that are "touchy" to fill. The hose on yours may be kinked or pinched where it goed btwx the body & the frame causing the flow to back up. If you can't find a kink or pinch in the hose try holding the pump nozzle...

    disconnected transfer case lever

Glad to hear you were able to get those bushings replaced. Always fun when you can't see & can hardley reach the part you're working on. You may be right about dropping the skid plate...dropping the plate, supporting the trans & xfer case, replacing all may be more trouble than fighting your way...

    Is anybody there?

I'm confused...I never know if anyone is here or not....not sure if I care when anyone is on. If I have a question or statement I post it & if/when someone cares to...they answer or reply. I thought that's how a forum worked. am I missing something????? Oh, by the way...I'm here now. Are you...

    1982 Jeep Cj

With the hubs in 2wd & the transfer case in 2wd the drive shaft & front axle should not turn when the Jeep moves. The front wheels should turn freely & not turn the axle, diff of driveshaft when they turn.

    1982 CJ7 Exhaust Pipe

The idea is the engine should breathe better. I've used headers in CJs with 4cylinder,V6 & I6 engines. The most notable performance difference was the 4cyl. The difference is usually felt when you "push" a bit higher RPM before shifting on acceleration.
