    Can you manually open the hatch - just won't lock ? Can you hear anything in tailgate - window lock/unlock? How about wiper? Fuse block fuse #8 15amp.

    plastic is the 'norm' its a new world. Maybe try junkyards or as they like to be called recyclers, they will also know other body types that used engine ie Dakota's ? Aftermarket and that means google search.

    the 4.0L is a timing chain... no maintenance required. Also it is a long lived seldom fails part...

    I will see if I have a 86 wiring dia... time permitting. BUT did you do BASICS? is there 12v at brake switch? Will the HI mount brake light operate? We did have them in 86 Do you have a trailer plug- often a problem there with wiring.

    I agree WD40 is not first choice BUT WD has become a generic (Vaseline) term for spray lubes PB Blaster, Liquid wrench, CRC, kroil, Vv-L800 etc etc - whats handy and personal choice..... My2 cents best multi purpose - PB blaster

    jeeps are often used offroad, think dirt, mud, water - a little hard use and that is expected. Not the pampered Porsche life. I would spray away at those bushings. A little spray on any nuts bolts may be of benefit in the future..

    1999 does not use Freon its Suva R134a. All AC checks will need a set of gauges and high and low side readings taken. I know it sounds anal but do not want someone sending an old can of freon r12 from their garage into system. TIPS There are no codes. Will the AC compressor...

    how much grade to that hill? Anyway I would scan for codes*, and do a fuel pressure test - maybe jack up front of jeep to simulate. I suspect a fuel pump issue, we will need to inspect and replace, use a jeep pump aftermarket pumps are not recommended. *I would expect lean codes....

    knee jerk answer - check float, needles and seat, they may stick when float drops that low .... maybe replace...as you are opening carb to inspect.

    clean and tighten all battery cables both ends, starter and Gnd . Confirm cable end is tightening at battery connector. Let us know if any added BS such as remote starter. STOP hitting it.

    We can all see the emergence of elec vehicles, some issues to overcome - The American leadership in this field will solve the issues. I see battery cost, recharge time, then mas production will get the cost down BUT infrastructure? can we power all those charging requirements...

    Flashing head lamps - Are there any wiring modifications - added lamps, wrong bulbs, You changed relay and all was good for awhile... check fuse are right amp not higher, Might do a lamp load test (amps)

    JK 4WD Shifter Linkage Broken

    Above is the missing bushing for the center of connector I attached. These are a known weak point not uncommon to have a few extra in glove box. google - "jeep jk transfer case bushing" lots of info ideas & tutorials.
