Do I need to upgrade the axle shafts in my Dana 30 (with a locker)?

Jeep builds pretty tough vehicles...not bullet proof, but pretty tough. I upgraded my rear axles when I had an Eaton E-Locker installed, mainly to match the spline count as I think the wrong locker was sent and this was a quicker fix than waiting for the correct locker to arrive since the Jeep...

    Key dance doesn’t pull codes

I have not had this specific issue, but have had funky code reading issues before. Here is what I found, YMMV. If codes were cleared/reset or the battery was disconnected, it might take several start, warm up, and drive cycles to reregister new codes. If several cycles does not fix it, unhook...

Picked up a new set of tools to bring off-road

Very nice. Plus, you can easily see if something is missing, a big help on the trail. It looks like you'll still need to add a few things like pliers, dikes, baling wire, and those star sockets if your Jeep uses them...I like to keep a set dedicated to the Jeep tool bag so I don't go off and...

    Hello everyone

That Comanche is a great starting point for a build. The 6cyl at 147K miles is just getting broken in assuming it has been reasonably care for. IMHO, the e-windows add more complications than they are worth in a cab that size, but YMMV. The Comanches aren't seen much these days, so your Jeep...

Which of these bolts is stronger?

Caution! That "11" mark is not a strength mark, it is a manufacturer's mark. The 8.8 is a metric strength mark. Don't assume anything regarding the strength of the bolt with the 11. Strength Mark Reference: https://henrysautowarehouse.com/bolt-head-grade-strength-identifiers/ Strength...

Great approach to solving the dash light issue. Thanks for posting the approach.

    Time for another water pump

If it were me, I'd go with the best water pump sold by AutoZone and skip the fan clutch if it is currently working. Though I might go with the clutch if I had high mileage, say over 100K.

Would an extractor work to change the fluid in my automatic transmission

I don't have any scientific data on this, but only personal observations. It's best to stay with the same trans fluid type (regular vs synthetic), and ideally the same brand. But don't sweat it if there is some mixing in a pinch. Make sure to always use a trans fluid that meets the vehicle...

Would an extractor work to change the fluid in my automatic transmission

Using an extractor. It helps to have a warm engine and transmission. Slip the suction hose down the transmission fill tube. Move the tube up and down until it reaches the deepest point. Actuate suction and extract trans fluid. Easy peasy for anyone that has ever done even simple maintenance...

Jeep Wrangler automatic transmission fluid and filter change

IMHO, after the first time you change the transmission fluid and filter and you see the filter is clean [cut it open to see], then thereafter, a less involved but more frequent transmission fluid change using a suction extraction process for fluid removal is the way to go. Using a suction...

    Random Misfire, No Codes

Since the replaced coil helped, it sounds like it might be related to that. Did you use a Mopar coil? Did you go with the recommended spark plugs correctly gapped and torqued? Next time you get the miss, step into the throttle at little to see if that will force the miss fire to drop a code...
