RE-GEARING

I have a 2001 Wrangler with the 2.5L. I installed 32" tires and am very unsatisfied with the power. I understand that my best bet is to re-gear it. My questions are; can I just do the rear axle? What is the approximate price to have this done? And lastly is it all that difficult, or could I do it myself at Home? Any advice would be appreciated.

THANKS... [addsig]

First of all do you plan on using 4 wheel drive??????? :-D [addsig]

Well to do that you will need'
the same gears for the front and
rear otherwise one will spin faster than
the other and needless to say alot of stuff
will break and that is bad for you and the jeep. :-D [addsig]

Oh, I would take it to a off-road shop to set the ring and pinion
gears in unless you have done it before, I wouldn't try it ...Just
my $.02 ....it is a little difficult, but price wise I don't know you will
just have to check around.... :-D :-D [addsig]

you can do it yourself... i did it as a rookie with no problems... but MAKE SURE you check how it is in from stock, check how the teeth mesh, check how much play there is.... you will want to replicate that exactly[addsig]

you also have to make sure your teeth in the
original are good or you can't use those as a
reference, make sure you have the tools to
set your pinion angle and you have the right degree....
but like Snitty said you can do it...good luck.... :-D [addsig]
