No worries, I'm off of 43rd and Thunderbird; but I occasionally find myself in Yuma

You originally from Zona or a transplant? I was just there last weekend at 51st and northern, I just had my second back surgery but would love to hit some good trails out there with someone who knows some. All the trail I knew are now housing complexs e.g. Happy Valley Rd was an open area when I lived there.

Nope, Illinois native, but have been here for more than 5 years so I think I'm technically naturalized. I get around most of the trails in the Bradshaws, White Tanks, and the whole Crown King/Senator Hwy complex. I'm not too familiar with the Florence/Superstition runs though.

Are you familiar with the reason the superstitions are called what they are? Kinda cool, I spent 22 years out there and we used to wheel in the desert in the area where the 101 now is, Ive got a good friend named Levi out there that is BIG into jeeping and makes alot of his own stuff, once I am up and running and my back lets me my wife and I are going to head out to our old ranch out in wickenburg, some awesome trails out there, if your interested I'll let you know when, you can never have too many friends. Whitetanks have alot of memories as well, would be interested in a trip if you are willing to guide, unfortunately I didn't have my first jeep b4 leaving Az.

I've got an aunt and uncle that still live in Tucson, as well as a cousin and her family. My uncle probably knows every little trail around the Tucson area, but spends most of his time in the Santa Ritas, Rincons, and Superstitions. At 70 years old, he's still an avid off-roader, going out every Friday for a drive in his new Toyota Tundra (he gave his old Toyota Land Cruiser away a few years ago to one of my other cousins). He's slowed down a bit on what trails he takes because of his age, so he said he didn't need the Land Cruiser anymore, and that the Tundra won't let him get in as much trouble since it isn't nearly as capable. That brought a lot of peace of mind to my aunt!! He's been taking a day trip or weekend trip into the mountains on a different trail nearly every week for almost 40 years now, so I'm sure he's hit them all at least once! I haven't been down there since October of 2001, but still find that area to be one of my favorites in the nation.8)

I'm not sure, I would guess one of three reasons
1) all the petroglyphs out that way
2) all the mining stories in that range, i.e. the lost dutchman
3) they were discovered by a guy named Ezra Superstition (or something similiar) and/or some guy named Ezra Superstition was involved in a bloody massacree involving the Apache

Would that be Levi Hale?

Why yes, yes it would be Levi Hale, how do you know him? He was part of our circle of friends in high school, I bought the engine he just pulled out of his rig when he put the V8 in. Small world aint it. Do you use messanger? if so add my email address in so we can talk. JeepcrewX5@msn.com. My name is Matt.

Good to meet you, I'm Randy

I've never met Levi, but his name has come up a couple times around AZVJC in relation to extended wheelbase rigs.

Unfortunately I've never used messenger because I sneak on to post real fast when the wife and kids aren't looking
