MOCK O2 sensor?

mock O2 sensor...Anyone seen or used one of these things yet... Ive just seen a link on top of this website and cant seem to catch it again.... I cleaned out the cat- converter and now my jeep runs like crap and smells like fuel....98 TJ

www.summitracing.com not sure if they have one that will work.. but i know a friend who got one for his trans am.. it is actually an electronic component that mimics the signal that the o2 sensor should read if there was a properly working cat in place

I don't think a mock o2 sensor is going to fix your problem.

Is the check engine light on? What trouble codes have you retrieved?

a mock o2 sensor will tell the computer that the cat is working properly... now he is getting readings which are likely making the mixture way to rich

Could you tell what the sensor cap consisted of ?...less holes, no holes... I could probably make one ...I checked summit out , but no luck or it isn't advertised as a fake ...

How can I get it to run less rich? I just unhooked the rear sensor for now......actually I got an extra 50 miles on the most recent tank of gas w/o cat converter ... If I could fix this it would probably be better ....

it is basically just a cap harness that plugs into the o2 sensor harness... just cap it off and tuck it away... it gives an electronic reading telling the computer that there is an o2 sensor reading good exhaust

What do you mean by 'cleaned out the cat-converter'?

Sounds like a bandaid fix when you should be fixing whatever is causing it to run rich.

i think what he did was gutted the cat.... and because of that, the obd2 system is causing it to run rich

I agree. Instead of possibly wasting your money trying to emulate an 02 signal, find the REAL problem and fix it right. Remember that the computer uses signals from many sensors, not just the 02 sensor to adjust how it drives the engine. There are no guarantees that a "fake 02 sensor" reading is going to solve your problem(s) or not cause other problems down the line...

But that's just my 2 cents... I believe in doing things the right way or not at all

The cat interior honeycomb was loose and rattling so as it is common around here with off-roaders I just took all the crap out of it and it should get better airflow with less resriction (more power for the ol' 4-cyl and so far way better gas mileage)... but now I have a rich fuel problem ...

I found the "fake" sensors at www.O2SENSOR.com and www.BAKERELECTRONIX.com... for $25 .. I might give it a shot...

i didnt see anything that would work on either of those sites... the baker site had LT1/LS1 solutions, but nothing for a jeep

I emailed the guy at baker... he said it woud work fine ..I would just have to keep the sensor heater hooked up...

I may order later today....

Well as you guys that have been keeping up with some of my post know I have been fighting the Ol' check engine light situation for quite some time. Have replace both O2's 3 times with-in as many months. Today I took it in and had the muffler replaced. Man what a difference!. The guy said it must have had some of the honeycomb in it from the cat I replaced 2 years ago!!!! He said as soon as he started it with the new muffler.. the light came on for about 3 secs then went out! Runs like a champ now....no foul smell and has more pep...which is good for a 4-banger!

EVERYONE keep everything you have 2 of crossed that this is the final fix!!!!!
