Acceleration vibration noise

Noise just started-2004 Wrangler Unlimited,20,000 miles on it. I put unit into reverse to back out of driveway, barely push down on accelerator, & get a metallic vibration noise from what sounds like behind the dash. Put into drive, again just barely touching gas and begin to drive down the street, and again get that same momentary noise/vibration that lasts just until I push pedal more than about an inch. Goes away once I start moving. If I'm moving slowly, can "feather" the noise on and off by slightly touching gas and letting go. Any ideas?

are you sure it sounds like its coming from the dash and i had a vibration noise when i took off to turns out it was the converter, which is off, and after that i never had any vibrations

Thanks for the response. I too was thinking heat shield, as it was the same sound I had with KIA Sportage several years ago. Pulled the rattling heat shield off that toy and never had another problem. But I can't seem to find anything that seems loose on the Jeep. Will have to look again tomorrow. Sound seems to resonate from behind center of dash area.

Whats up doc?. if the noise is in fact isolated behind the dash area possibly behind the radio, check the radio bracket on the back. it's held in with one 10mm nut aside from the 4 phillips screw in front. another one that i know of that makes noise is the Dash board/ Instrument panel hangers located directly under the windshield frame. they look like weld in bolts from the body and the instrument panel brackets hangs on them. a remedy for it is to find a 10 mm nut that would screw on that stud and snug it. the 2 center studs does not come with retainers on them from the factory.

Thanks for the input. I would assume I need to attack radio/bracket issue from under driver side dash, unless there's a better way to get at it. My old bones don't twist & bend like they used to. Went under the Jeep last night & couldn't find anything else that seemed loose.

It would be easier to sneak your hands through the glove box opening by slipping the glove box straps off the glove box lid. it would be best to have someone to help you verify by duplicating the noise and placing your finger on the bracket when the noise is there. if it goes away, then check the nut for loosenes . tightened as required.
