    Bolt Removal

There is a recent thread I started on this, do a search under spun nut on skid plate. Sawzall or grinder to cut bolt, then several options from there that are in that thread. Let us know what you end up doing or what your dealer does. Thanks I think I am going to drill a hole directly above in...

spun nuts in frame for transmission support help please!

What about my first thought, and easiest solution. Just drill a hole in the top of the frame directly above the bottom hole and get a longer bolt. Run the bolt straight up thru the top and put a washer and nut on. Will three small holes in the top of the frame weaken it? Would a strip of steel...

spun nuts in frame for transmission support help please!

Thanks Lethal. So the skid has to come off either way. That' s a bummer. It wouldn't have been hangin cause the nuts spun before the bolt started to loosen. But nuts and bolts are cheaper than a $500-600 sye conversion and cv shaft!

spun nuts in frame for transmission support help please!

Thanks, I may try that. After not being so lazy and doing a search, I found that a SYE would completely eliminate the need for the skid plate spacers. Since the nuts spun and did not loosen, I could leave them. My question now is do you need to remove the skidplate to do the SYE conversion...

spun nuts in frame for transmission support help please!

Oh, the joys of working on parts with rusted bolts and nuts!! Installing my BDS 4" suspension lift there is 6 bolts( 3 on each side) that hold the transmission skid/support to the frame. The nuts are tack welded INSIDE the frame and have spun free. I believe I can use my sawzall to get in...

Hello, you have your work cut out for you! I'm the guy that is rebuilding the 87YJ with his son. There is a square lock plate sealed between the underside of the body and the floor of the jeep. There located in reinforcing "channels" and can be accessed by cutting a "t" directly above the...

Daystar/Prothane 1" urethane bushing lift question

Hello all, it's almost time to order the body lift for my son's 87' YJ. I've decided on a 1" urethane bushing lift. I need a kit that has not only the lift bushing but the lower bushing as well cause all the bushings are toast! They just crumble. The Prothane kit and the Daystar kit both have...

    bds or rough country?

thanks currupt, he quoted me $750 incl shipping(nice guy, prompt call back), so my local guy's $675 cash deal sounds pretty good. Still wondering if that rough country kit's cost will go above the $440 incl shipping and will end up costing more in the end then the $440??

    bds or rough country?

Should also say that this won't be wheeled to hard, more like a cool ride for a teenager's first rig.

    bds or rough country?

RE: removing rear track bar help Wow, there is no clear cut choice. The BDS supplier stated that I would not be getting as complete of a kit with the rough country kit. Can anyone confirm this? If I have to spend more than the $440 for the rough country and not for the $675 BDS then the...

    bds or rough country?

RE: LJF offline next week or so Hello again, thanks to those who helped with the info on getting my broken body mount bolts out. Had to cut into the square channel to get the back ones out(not as bad as I thought) and longer soaks with pbblaster and working the bolt a little instead of just...

    body lift problem

Re: RE: Differential Questions Thanks a bunch for the feedback. I did spray with pb blaster but the problem is that the nut end is pretty much encapsulated and gravity cant help cause I'm spraying upsidedown. Think maybe I'll drill a small access hole to get the pbblaster to the nut on the...

    body lift problem

Hello All, new member here with a quick question. Recently got a 87 yj for my son (x-mas gift) as a father/son project. He'll be 15 in April so we have a little over a year to build it. My problem is the first two body mount bolts twisted off (the back ones that mount to the rear crossmember)...
