    What T-case/Trans for My CJ?

I have a 78 CJ7, I have added Howell EFI, dana 44s little bit of lift, 35s and 4.10 gears. I plan on changing over to the 4.0 head for some more power. I have a T18(b?) trans and a dana 20 Transfer case, The T-18 that is supposed to be in my jeep has a 6.35:1 first gear, but that was a T-18A...

EFI for 78 CJ, Howell, 4.0, or V8?

I probably would have really enjoyed a chevy V8, I have 3 vehicles with them now, It would make maintenance that much easier, but the work to convert was a big hurdle for me. I have many other projects that I don't have enough time for as it is. One thing that slowed me down on the V8 swap too...

EFI for 78 CJ, Howell, 4.0, or V8?

too late, I decided to go with the howell FI, it came UPS yesterday. I wanted less work to get going, and hoping for good mileage, v8 may be as good mileage, but getting a stick shift v8, computer etc would have been a pain in the butt, I do not want to go to an automatic. I need to get this...

    CJ axles for 100?

I just looked, you are in Indiana, guess you should shop locally for stuff. It may be less for the work to be done there, california is freakin' high cost. One hour for a plumber to come to the house=165.00, I almost had a heart attack.

    CJ axles for 100?

Not sure where you are, but here in the Bay area in CA, it was 700 for the guy to completely swap out the 3.73s that came with my Scout axles for 4.10s. As he did that he took the limited slip from the rear scout axle and put it in the front, and put a new detroit locker in the rear. I had to...

EFI for 78 CJ, Howell, 4.0, or V8?

Well, I can think of 3 reasons right away that I will not be going with propane, even if it is a little cheaper, and sounds easier to set up. 1) I live in California and this thing has to be smog legal,(not for pollution controlled vehicles) 2) I already paid for the Howell kit on my credit card...

EFI for 78 CJ, Howell, 4.0, or V8?

I didn't think I'd like the tires sticking out, but I do, and it takes side hill stuff better. Very stable. The front tie-rod is all custom 1-ton rod ends, and 1 3/4 ton rod end, on the drag link. He(the fabricator) also did the 4inch angle iron rails on the side of the body, I rode them a...

EFI for 78 CJ, Howell, 4.0, or V8?

Nice to see someone responded, I do have a couple pics, sadly the camera that I took all the original pictures with died. I do have the tires sticking out about 4 inches front and rear, but the rear are 33X15.5 swampers, on 10" wheels. The fronts that size were barely rubbing on the tie-rod end...

EFI for 78 CJ, Howell, 4.0, or V8?

Hi everyone, I went on the Rubicon trail 2 weeks ago, I made it through. I learned a few things about my jeep that weekend, it's pretty tough, it could use a little more power, 33s are a little on the small side for the Rubicon, and I need to now make a new spare tire holder/bumper. And even...

    Scout Axles, Narrow track CJ7

Well, I took it out today, finally got to put it into 4wd Low, it seems to climb very well, my buddy took his Bronco also, we had a lot of fun, just light trail stuff. It was a bit twitchy and hard to drive on the road, but very cool off road.

    Scout Axles, Narrow track CJ7

I drove it to the shop Yesterday, got a new flowmaster put on, and got the caster checked, BAD!, BAD!, BAD!. It is -3.1° on one side, and -3.3° on the other, I have not determined what the pinion angle is. When I get it to the shop, they can see if that is ok, if it is, the inner knuckles get...

    Scout Axles, Narrow track CJ7

I don't see how I can reverse my shackles, I have a cast part that is kind of a tube welded on the frame,(look at the pics) I would have to totally change the mount on the front for that. The other thing is the driveshaft length, the dana diff has a longer pinion section, which pushes the...
