Hello all, long time reader, first time poster. I just picked up a cj7. I want to put a radio in but as far as I can tell there was never a factory radio installed. I have a tuffy center console with a radio slot. I checked out the fuse area and see that there is a slot for a radio fuse/conection. Can someone explain to me as simply as possible how to wire in a radio? I am not to smart when it comes rewiring and don't want to create a problem where there wasn't one. Thank you in advance.

Just run a the positive wire(red) to the fuse box with a female spade connector and plug it in the radio slot. There's probbably going to be a yellow wire coming out of the radio as well for the memory. Run this wire on the fuse box that has a constant 12v even with the engine off. The speakers will have a color code and polarity. Usually, for example, if theres a pair of green wires with a black stripe on one of them, the one with the black stripe is usually the positive lead for the speaker.

Ok, I have a silly question, when say plug the red and yellow wire into the radio on the fuse box. Are you refering to the radio fuse on the front or take the fuse box apart and plug it into the rear? Again thanks and I apologize for the stupid questions.

in the front where you would normally put the fuses is a single slot with the word radio right above it. put the yellow one there, i think. then find one that turns off when you turn the jeep off and put the red there (i think. i cannot remember which is power and which wire color is memory)
