    Door part siezing up

96 XJ here and my front doors have been tough to lock for a while now. It began about 10 years ago when something in the locking action became stiff and it took 2 pushes on the electric lock switch to get it locked or unlocked. It got worse over the years where it eventually took up to 5-6...

    Towing

How can i tell if my 96 Xj has a tow package? If it doesn't, apparently it's towing capacity is about 2000. What would happen if I tried to tow a 3400 lb trailer with it's own 'pulse brakes?'

    GEN light on w/ hesitation

Well, turned out to be the alternator. Had a hard time convincing myself that was it b/c the as my records showed it was only 2 yrs ago I put a new one on. The one that went bad 2 yrs ago was the original..lasted 20 years. At least the new ones in now and it's done. Lifetime warranty on...

    GEN light on w/ hesitation

'96 XJ here and here lately I've had just a few instances where the truck hesitated to go just as I gave it some gas. Only been seeing this from dead stop or slight roll. Hesitates for a second or two then it gets going like normal. Did it again this morning and although I haven't been...

How to suit up to pressure wash a dang horse stall?

Yeah I agree. Approach is key and good psi is gonna help. Thanks for that link. Thosee suits are exactly what I'm looking for although I hope they can be found cheaper. Their helmet with non-mistable polycarb face shield for 50$ looks worth it though.

How to suit up to pressure wash a dang horse stall?

So I'm about to clean and paint a bunch of horse stalls and I got this big old 4200 psi pressure washer to start cleaning them out with. I'd rather not get many years worth of who knows what splashing back in my eyes etc so I'm wondering what kind of face protection is best for this kind of...

    Anybody know sandblasting?

I'm trying to transition into commercial painting specializing in the horse farms around central KY and my first job involves taking down 11 heavy metal powder coated horse stall doors that have gotten somewhat rusted, sandblasting them then painting. I've done a lot of stuff but...

So in popping it straight up somehow this plastic part of the button mechanism got broken. JYs around here don't let you go in and prob won't want to retrieve something like this. Should I just get the part number from a dealer then search for it on ebay?

96 XJ.. The sounds coming from this thing right in front of the pass firewall. It clicking 2-3 times a second loud enough you can hear it w/ the hood closed. It's done this a couple times before but I never tracked down the sound. No clue what it is.

WANTED 96 XJ exterioir door panel accent piece

I am looking for both front door exterior panels for a 96 XJ or compatible year. Here's what it looks like on the driver's door... Color doesn't matter, they just need to be straight and not drooping like in the picture. The front of the panel is slightly angled so they are door specific.

So I got this wheel rash problem

This is on a 96 XJ that came with the 2 tone 5 spoke alloy wheels... I've got something coming up where I'd like to get the old truck looking as good as she can, so I'm looking for a quick fix for my wheels. What's happened w/ the previous owner (who's a surgeon but cant drive a car worth...

How to bend the end of your tail pipe

Can't believe it but the new shackles are running into the end of my exhaust so the stock XJ is having it's first clearance issue. My best idea is to protect the tank with a welding blanket and heat red hot where I want the bend and then stick a 2ft pry bar in there and see if I can get it...

    Fumes and weight management

First is putting the 96 XJ up on stands. Considering the weight of the engine and that there's no real frame under there, would it be risking bending the body to put the front of the truck up on stands? Doing a lot of front end work right now and I have both front wheels off and two stands...

Need advice for pressing in axle side UCA bushing for XJ

Follow up... I ended up having to cut the bolt to the same pass UCA axle side bushing, and I'm concerned about clearance issues replacing it with a regular six-sided bolt. Did Jeep make the OEM bolt with that funny type of flag head because of clearance issues say when if the arm were to...

Need advice for pressing in axle side UCA bushing for XJ

Been replacing all 4 control arms on the 96 XJ and to my amazement everything has gone well so far. Replaced the bottom 2 ok, and the driver side upper went in w/o too much trouble...so but now I'm into the upper arm on the passenger side. Pressing the bushing in on the driver side went ok...

Parts ID-ing - axle side control arm bushings on a 96 XJ

I've ordered 4 new control arms only to find out they don't include the front bushings for the upper set, the one that has to be pressed out of the axle housing. I'd like to go with Moog part MOOG-K3128 which is a two bushing kit.. Front Upper Control Arm Bushing | Jeep Cherokee | MOOG but...

Leaf spring bushing went in just a little too easy

When I installed the smaller rear bushings they were much harder to get in, so since this is my first time doing this I assumed that a really tight fit was the norm. The set that was easier to get in don't really move or turn at all, is this a good enough fit maybe?
