    Pulling a T176 and Dana 300

Be sure to support the back end of the engine when you pull the skid plate. One of the bottle jacks should work well for that.

greg92jeepxj has a good point about checking the clutch while you're at it.

    I just got a 1976 cj7

Headers are available for the 304, but it is of AMC design & I don't believe that Chevy headers would match up.

    Pulling a T176 and Dana 300

I usually use a small jack stand to support the bell housing & remover the crossmsmber/skidplate first. If I'm not doing clutch work, I disc the trans rom the bellhousing.Thatmakes the trans & xfercase easier to maneuver. The toughest part is getting it lined up to go back in.

    1961 CJ5/ New frame

1972 was the first year for the 84" wheelbase. Yours is 81". 3"s were added in "72 for the AMC straight 6. A 1971 or older will fit your "61.

    1961 CJ5/ New frame

In "72 the frame was lengthened 3 inches for the AMC Straight 6. I think that's also when they went to a boxed frame. 1971 or older will fit our "61.

    CJ5 Drivetrain swap 76 to a 78

The 304 with the 4spd should go right into the "78...both "76 & "78 used the Dana20 xfer case. The drive shafts from the"76 should fit too. I cant think of a better/easier swap.

Photos of the new Jeep Wrangler Pickup

It looks like they grafted a short Ram bed onto the 4door Unlimited. I would bet they do some sculpting to the rear ides & wheel wells before production. I would like more of a stepside look.
