RE: CJ7 trailering/towing w/dana 300
1984 CJ7 258,T5,D300. I've had it for two months and just took it to the local svra this weekend for the first time and had some trouble shifting the transfer case. Half the time it won't shift no matter how hard you pull on the shift lever and the other half it shifts effortlessly. Also when it was in 4 low i got stuck in a rock pit and as i sat there with the rear wheels turning slowly i noticed that neither of the front wheels were turning. However, later that day when i was going up a hill i definatley saw one of the front wheels getting power.I trailered it 80 miles to the offroad park, with the rear driveshaft disconnected but i think the front one was still turning even though the hubs were unlocked. I havn't had a chance to get a good look at the t-case shift linkage, and am hoping that is the problem. Any ideas as to what is wrong?
