Does anyone know how to tighten up the steering on a 79 CJ-5 with power steering? We just put in a new gear box, but the steering is really loose?

under the front frame cover (between radiator and front bumper) should be a hole where you can see an allen screw with a jam nut.Loosen the jam nut, tighten the allen screw.
Be carefull not to overtighten , the steering will lock up.
Adjust it in small steps
Also a good steering stabiler will help

the allen screw/jam nut is actually on top of the power steering gear box,
just axcess it through the hole under the frame cover

Check for bad tierods, and worn shackle bushings. Both will cause sloppy steering. A rear locker will take a lot of wander out of the steering

I had a loose tilt columb that causes my stearing to be really loose. I was supprised how much it tightened up when I fixed it.
