Hey guys I am having a problem removing the rear axle yoke on my model 20 rear axle. I need to replace the seal and can not get the spline nut off to remove the yoke. I used plenty of PB blaster and could not get it loose even with a breaker bar and cheater pipe. anybody have a solution or any experience with this.

Thanks for the help

I usually use a 1/2 inch impact. If that doesnt work...Ill go 3/4 inch.[addsig]

I got mine off with a 1/2 impact... if a 3/4 doesn't work... then get it on a lift and go with a (some large number)" long very strong breaker bar.[addsig]

Like the man said, long breaker bar (T bar), and like six feet or so of pipe (stand on that sucker something is gonna give). The socket should be thick wall, if it will fit in there (so it won´t shatter). Also helpful to put it up on ramps, to get a little room. The use of a monkey wrench (smooth jaw type pipe wrench) and another peice of pipe braced against the frame, to hold the yoke also helps. Re-tightening that thing to spec´s is a whole other thing. Might be possible to strip the pinion threads, maybe a air hand grinder and cutting one side of the nut, would be the way to go. Then giving the side a wack with a cold chisel. Don´t guess there is room in there for a nut splitter.[addsig]

If you plan on replacing the seal... throw some heat up on that sum-betch[addsig]
