An other question, just installed a new Weber carburetor, idles beautiful at 800 rpm. When I drive it cold it back fires every time I push down the clutch. If I let it warm up it back fires when I hit the gas when my clutch is down to get my rpm back down to 800 rpm. When it's hot the rpm sometime stays at around 1500 and I have to give it gas to bring it down.

disconnect everything and cap off the vacuum stuff and see if it still does it.

you have two different issues going, the first is a linkage issue, which is holding you in the 1500 rpm range, check the choke linkage/high idle cam for alignment and sticking. Next it sounds like you are running it too rich for the throttle position which is why you would be backfiring with the new carb with no other differences. Other than that, check timing, cap rotor and cables for service induced issues revolving around the carb swap
