Help Identify Engine

I have acquired a Jeep 6 cyl. engine that supposedly came out of a Jeep pickup. I'm trying to determine the year model of the engine. It is supposed to be an 86 or 87. It is fuel injected and the engine code is 708C27. According to info I got from jeeptech.com this engine code would be deciphered as: 7-1987, 08=August, C=258 2bbl, 27=27th day of the month. However the engine is fuel injected, not a two barrel. Can anyone help me? I want to install this engine in a 80-81 CJ5 that I am building up for rock crawling. Thanks for any response. is it an aftermarket EFI unit. Are things likkr the fuel rail and injectors look newer than the engine? Most likely could be out of a comanche!

if that code came from the block.. it could be a rebuild, and could have been an older block swapped in because of damage or some other reason... or it could be the aftermarket EFI kit... or... it could be..... (lots of things)
