Gas smell when I slow down

Gents, my 89 4.2 is running great, but it's giving off a strong gas smell when I slow down. Any thoughts?

Check the tank and fuel lines for leaks.

I've owned 4 YJ Wranglers and they have all need to have the clamps tightened at the fuel tank at one time or another. Reach up inside the frame behind the drives side rear tire.

It sounds like one of the hoses on top of the tank (the rubber ones) came loose on you (I had this happen to me some time ago).
