Engine swap question.

I am looking to change out a 360 engine in a 82 CJ5 with a fresher 360. I am not a mechanic but am mechanically inclined. My question is should I remove the 360 complete with transmission and transfer case. It seems to me that it would be easier lining up the clutch on the floor rather than in frame. i've done it that way before, but the whole power train is real heavy for most hoists/cherry pickers. and its hard to get the thing balanced properly so it ends up hanging at a steep angle and falling over and breaking things. i can't say that i would recommend it, but it is possible. good luck, john
