Engine dies

I have a 1988 Wrangler I6 258 with carb. It often dies when i'm running. RPM drops to zero.Sometimes it restart by itself just pressing the clutch. It often happens when i'm in third gear. I switch to second gear and it restart by itself. if it dies when i'm in first, it restart easyly just turning the key. i don't know what the problem is. Can anyone help? [addsig]

i don't think the problem is the carb.

When the engine stops, it's like there is no fire going to the spark plug
