'93 cherokee lifts... what would work best?

so after searching for some time i was finally able to find a 93 jeep cherokee country with no rust. (a hard find here in the northeast) I am now looking into setting it up for some medium-duty off roading, which naturally brings up a LOT of questions... i dont know much about cherokees so any help would be appreciated.

What size lift do i need to fit 33" tires?
What is the best lift kit available?
At what point do i need to think about a slip yoke eliminator and cv driveshaft?
Is there anything else i should be aware of when lifting my cherokee?
Is there a good chip available that will help my gas mileage/power?
Does anyone know my gear ratio or how to find out?

Thanks for any and all help!

-Brian

What size lift all depends on how much trimming you want to do also.
I dont like butchering my fenders too bad so 4-4.5" for 33's would be my suggestion. 3.5" for 32's. Up to you how much you want to cut.

I like the Rubicon Express 3.5" super ride lift with replacement leaf springs (not a add a leaf kit)

My 93 has 4" of lift, No SYE, stock driveshafts ,a dropped pitman arm and transfer case lowering kit. I dont have any weird vibrations etc with that setup on mine. I wouldnt get a SYE or new driveshafts as you may not need them. You can always get them later if you find out you do need them.

This is a great link for lift info. XJ lift setups (read first post before replying!!!)

Your gearing is probably 3.55, at this link you can request a build sheet from jeep for free and it will tell you all about yours. Contact Jeep

It also depends on the width of tire you plan to run. Less lift for skinnier tires. I suggest getting the KJ lower arms (that curve inwards, allowing more swing room for wider tires)

Here's some photos of my 1989 Cherokee with 33 x 12.5 x 15" BFG T/A's...

It has a 4 1/2" Rough Country lift kit, with new rear leaf springs. To get the 33 BFG's to clear, I had to cut the fenders. Quite a bit of material (IE:metal) from the front fenders.
And to be street legal, I added a set of Bushwacker "pocket" fender flairs. I perfer the "finished" look the flairs give and again, I'm street legal...

Hope this and the photo(s) help.

PS- Yes, I know I need bumpers and sliders. Only need $$$ ooo...

4.5 to 5 inchs for 33's and you will be ok. i suggest a longarm lift up front for any lift over 4 inch. the ride is way smoother and it will flex and wheel alot better then shorts arms can
