I have it too, I miss Granville's writing. He was one heck of a story teller.

    AMC 20 IS in TJ

Ah ok I see jps. I do not run into many F250LD trucks, so I am not sure but IFS does sound right. Ford rims, to date they have made all of their truck rim diameters in steel. Look to either full size spare tire rims, or the XL option package trucks, like what municipalities use, they come with...

    AMC 20 IS in TJ

I don't really follow you there because the D50 TTB had a removable center section, the 99+ solid axle D50 does not. They do share the same R&P and carrier, and the 99+ D50 uses a D60 housing which is machined for a D50 carrier. Any of the Superduty 3/4 and 1 ton axles have the metric bolt...

    AMC 20 IS in TJ

Just for clarity there are absolutely no D44 parts used in or on a D50. The R&P, carrier, and inner shaft splines are D50. The rest of this axle assembly is D60. The D50 will easily handle 37"+ size tires, especially on a light weight vehicle like a Jeep. Only caveat is it has 8 on 170mm BP, but...

a cummins going into a TJ

Be sure the rim bolt pattern is the same. Most dodge 1/2 ton bp are not the same as Ford 1/2 ton bp. There are a few exceptions though, I have a set of Dodge Ramcharger rims on my Cj2a which has the same 5 on 5.5"bp.

    Can't Find a Cummins 3.3L

I have had some unfavorable dealings with Novak when it came to my 4bt swap. I honestly can't recommend them with a good conscious. But I agree a SBC or other more common engine can easily be done for less money than a 4bt swap. I happen to like diesels a lot so that's the way I went.

I know you were talking to Buck, but I am originally from the west side (Austin area). Now living out near Rockford.

I could see how you got the leaf spring idea with mention of a previous cj7 in the first line.

Swerving when I take my foot off the accelerator

My money is on worn rear control arm bushings. He lists his Jeep as a 99 TJ so no leaf springs. Bad engine or trans mounts should not cause his symptoms, nor will out of balance tires. 4WD will lessen the affect since 1/2 the power that was going to the rear axle is now going to the front.

    The Jeep Bible

I agree Granville King was a wonderful writer, albeit full of BS sometimes but that was what made his writings so much fun to read. Is it a good "how to" book? no, but it is good entertaining reading none the less. I miss his articles in Fourwheeler, kinda wish they would reprint them.

Nope nobody at all, not a single person.

    Can't Find a Cummins 3.3L

That would be quite a logistical pita getting the LML Duramax to work, or most any of the computerized diesels. Not saying it isn't possible, just a lot of headaches.

a cummins going into a TJ

I have a 4bt in my TJ. The 4bt is plenty of engine, capable of more than 600 h/p. The 6bt will fit without any firewall or radiator position mods but it is very heavy, and a tight fit. The 4bt weighs about #800, and the 6bt #1100 depending on what engine options. I used 1 ton axles, AX15/231sye...

    Can't Find a Cummins 3.3L

My TJ has been running and driving for about the last 5 months now. I am a member on 4btswaps.com since its beginning and have seen a lot of write ups on Cummins into a Jeep, I honestly would say 35mpg is a pipe dream. Realistically low to mid 20's is what I say to expect. Several have had quite...
